New Zealand bars British man's 'fat' wife

A British man who moved to New Zealand has been told by officials that his wife is too fat to join him.

I had no idea there was such criteria! I find myself favoring the call....
    Your thoughts?

Perhaps Pure NZ should change their slogan to... No fat chicks.

I wonder what would happen if WINZ adopted this policy.

    Samoans aren't white..
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

As usual, on the surface the idea seems to have merit, but when you come to details it's ludicrous.

The guy in question is in a highly specialised job and we neeeeeed him! Something to do with the interisland cable or summat? Can't remember, but anyway it's like the medical specialist from Canada who was head hunted here (remember, we don't have many of them cattle), and then was refused residency cos his daugher had cerebral palsy. So the family was poached by Australia and offered every assistance, cos the aussies could see the benefits he would bring would outdo any costs the daughter might incur.

She should wear boot polish and claim she fears for her life back home, she'd be in the country in a jiffy that way . . .

Something about bureaucrats and the ability to use their common sense - why are those terms often mutually exclusive?

Never known anyone fat to be turned down, but I can understand it. So the husband has private health care, ok let him in, her, what has she got, next she'll have diabetes and be needing all sorts of taxpayer funded medical help.
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

So if the Husband pays tax what's the problem.

Next they will stop people who are too thin because they have a higher risk of osteoporisis.

Sure he pays tax, but what is her specialty that will help NZ be a better place.

They say in the article that they were coming to NZ for a lifestyle change, to get fit and enjoy the outdoors, well why not start this big change as soon as they thought of coming over, then they could enjoy NZ from the very beginning of them living here!

Well you have a point, no fat Tourists.............NZ has a reciprocal Health agreement with the UK............

It does not say much for NZ eh. I mean a fat person may not necessarily be a burden on the Health system. If they get a job they become a taxpayer etc.............but agree they do have potential health issues.

No more women cause they may get breast cancer?

They could give the women a 2 year visa. She would then have to show that she has lost weight etc before they consider say an indefinite resident's visa. At least this way they cover themselves.

Now that is a resonable idea, and I reckon thats what they should do. This couple is supposedly commited to this change, well prove how comitted you are.

Do we need people with special skills to make NZ a better place? NZ's main industry is Farming followed by Tourism............the rest is just taxes for the Govt.

Agree on with you last point. It is hard to lose weight for some people I guess and like I said in my last post they could have restricted her Visa.
