    Welly-Taupo ride for Transit Conference

OK, a few people have asked about a group ride from the south to Taupo for the Transit Road Barrier Conference on December 4th. Read all about it in the Conference/Awareness Ride thread - here

    HERE IS THE PLAN:-
OK ... let's do it! Here's the Google map and schedule

Target times (anyone have more exact times than these google ones?):-
    Leave Rimutex at 06:00
Masterton gas station on the Castlecliff/Riversdale turnoff 07:00
    Pahiatua 07:10
    Woodville 07:50
    SH50 turnoff 08:10
    Napier Airport 09:15
    Taupo 11:15

Am happy if any of the HB crowd can correct any time errors I have here and let me know

    THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL DISCUSSION:-
My personal plans are a bit unclear (yes I am going) but here's some route options ... and the google map relating to it (click the route for the map).
They all show 5hrs + but I think in reality you take an hour off their times since here to Taupo via SH1 is a 4 hr trip. But a same-day trip should prolly leave Welly at 6am.
    Some route ideas ...
    - U Hutt, Masterton, SH50, Napier, Taupo - 441km, 6hr12min
    - State Highway 1 all the way - 362km, 5hr7min
    - Welly, Shannon, Fielding, Kimbolton, Mangaweka, Taupo - 384km, 6hr15min

So that's just some ideas. If we get an idea of who's going and the way they want to go, we can post an itinerary and pick the Wanganui, Palmy, Ashurst and maybe the HB folks on the way.I personally would love to do the Napier/Taupo again even though it's a long treck. That way we would all arrive in Taupo together ... cool?

There will be at least 3 of us going direct from here. We aim to leave somewhere around 9.45. There are a few HBers heading down to Palmy to go with that lot.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

So if we came via the HB, that would be perfect. You got any idea how long it would really take MSTRS?

At that time of the am
I would estimate it to take approx 5 hours to Taupo via Napier, that is allowing a breather and fuel in Masterton and maybe Dannevirke

We we came down to the CCR ride we left at 6am and were there just after 9 , and we werent pushing it

    Cheers

I can always strap a 5 litre tank on the back if i need to (no biggy)
How many km does your bike do to a tank grub? i think ill get around 180kmish from a full tank, appently it does 240 if ur really nice to it.

I think you'd be fine Q'man. Mine does 260 before the light comes on, 315 before I sweat big-time but Kendog's Gixxer gets the same as you and he made it to Waipuk just fine.

    Going the Napier way
    - Upper Hutt to Dannivirke, 175km (top up Masterton if needed)
    - Dannivirke to Napier, 124km
    - Napier to Taupo, 142km

    So no worries

It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever

Those times sound about right. Why don't you meet the HB lot at BP Bayview. We plan a leave time of 9.30 - 9.45.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
