Many years ago a wise teacher was very tough on any of his pupils who wrote anything racist. His test of whether or not an item was racist was to remove the word/s that mentioned race, and replace it/them with person or people. If the substance of the statement didn't change, then it was racist. If it did change, then it was either fact or honest opinion.

As an example of how this test is applied here is a sample that mynameis reffered to:

However, speaking of coconuts a majority of the people currently working outside my house are coconuts so you could be right.

If we replace the word "coconuts" with "people" the sentence becomes meaningless, so the sentence is not racist. It is probably derogatory though, but that is another argument.

I haven't seen anything racist on KB....perhaps this isnt a good thing but I dont feel threatened when posting on here, I dont see why this would change if I had a different tone of skin
