    Strange sounds...

    hey all,
well I did a few things to my bike yesterday (pull apart clean etc) and while I was cleaning the cooling system out, I noticed a 'pipe' (re: pic) that was squirting oil onto the engine, this worried me mainly becuase it could have easily gone on my tire!!, but I was wondering what the hell it was - I figure that it is the airbox oil drainoff?, but I'm worried about what the consequences of the hole that the pipe needs to go in would have suffered (i.e dirt etc).
I will do a oil change within the next few days, but alittle light would help.

On the 'strange sounds' note, today after I got fuel for it (I cleaned out the tank, and ran it dry) started it and tried to warm it up, it was running then I rev'd it up to around 3k only to here a 'squirt' (like when u use fly spray) tried it again and there it is, I was lost.. I figured it was because the carbs where dry, and this was just due to the first run of fuel through it.. the only other thing that I managed to get done was a full coolant change, but cant see that being the source of the noise, since it didnt even get out of the 'cold area on the temp gauge' so who knows? spose its nothing to big.

on another note, dont you hate when your bike falls over when your servicing it damn that caused some extreme profanity that did.. along with repairs using a hammer (bent levers!)

If it is the drain for the airbox it'll not go anywhere.... just a hose hanging somewhere near the grond

thanks for that, well Its most probably not that then, since it was depositing oil or other crap on the engine, all the other 'drainage' pipes are located at the rear in a holding bracket on the swingarm..

looks like a crankcase vent tube... vents air outta the engine to the airbox to be enviromentally friendly (oil fumes an stuff) so they can be reburnt and shit like that

Yep know exactly. And it does look like a crankcase breather. I don't mean to cause you worry but if it's spitting oil out, could be a sign that all is not well with your rings. Best you get someone knowledgeable to take a look.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
