Very tidy, it's unlikely you'll see one this nice at this age and mileage. Engine is tight and no oil leaks, goes like a cut cat.

Aftermarket seat, sissy bar, king tank, buffalo grips and western bars, forward controls, battery box, grips, speedo bracket, handlebar clamp. Great paint condition, new rear tyre, good front tyre, recent battery, chain and sprocket (500km ago), just had oil and filter change. Excellent runner, starts easily, runs sweet and smooth and fun to ride.

WOF until March next year, Registered right through to May next year.
Odometer is in miles.
Great bike but I want to buy another dirt bike and the wife says I have too many toys already.

I will help the buyer with delivery - I will deliver it to Picton ferry for a tank of gas or load it onto a transporter in Nelson for free. Contact Motorcycle Transporter Services on (07)882-1285 for a shipping quote or fly to Nelson and I'll meet you at the airport - it would be a great ride home. Last time I shipped a bike from Auckland it was $400 so it's probably gone up a bit, similar to Dunedin and the closer you are to Nelson the cheaper it gets.

Will consider a swap for a 2000-2004 XR400 plus cash difference.

I paid $6500 for it and spent another $1000 on her for more chrome, a better tank, recovered the sissy bay pad etc etc. I guess I should have accepted the $6000 someone offered me the first week I had it on Turdeme...

It is a particularly tidy sporty, that's for sure. Unfortunately the four speeds aren't all that popular now, especially since you can buy a brand new 883 so inexpensively now.

Thanks, if I bought another one I'd get a 1200 rubber mount with at least 5 speeds but then I'd be paying twice as much I guess. How much is a new 883?

After riding a 'rubberglide' I wouldn't want the 1200 rubber mount that you mentioned.

You DO realise the motor/trans/swing-arm are one unit bolted together (no surprise there) BUT then they are bolted to rubber-mounts attached to the frame?

Imagine how positive and firm THAT feels when ya go through the twisties and the rear end is slopping from side-to-side.

Besides, the vibration ain't THAT bad on a Harley eh?

I'd like to see the "glass of water on the seat test" done on my sportster - you can rev a Beemer and not spill a drop!
She's sold now so on to other toys...
