    Bastards! My first NZ ticket.

    Two hundred bucks!

And what was the heinous crime that I committed, you're wondering? What foul act or public endangerment could they have caught me for, bang to rights?

Well the ticket says "USING A VEHICLE WHILE NOT DISPLAYING A CURRENT LICENSE LABEL IN THE MANNER REQUIRED."

Thank you, you bean-counting, pencil-pushing shits. My vehicle is licensed, and WoF'd, and your computers know that damned well. But, yes, you're right, that bit of paper that I forgot to mount on my motorcycle makes me a public menace.

Not even a warning or a producer, just a straight $200 bloody fine. Bastards.

and because you were already licensed you should be able to get off it. Check out with the council that charged you how to go about it.

    yes, welcome to the club

your $200 tax will go directly to the IRD and since it's such a great earner, the cops will b3e back out again tomorrow even as all those really fucken dangerous drivers switch lanes without signaling, run red lights, cut people off and generally create mayhem in our towns and cities.

The irony here is that I've had cause to talk to the trafffic police, with sirens and red-n-blues, twice in the year that I've been here, and both times they've been helpful, friendly and, ultimately, let me away with a warning. I've been sitting here reading about other people's luck with traffic cops and thinking "what are these people talking about?"

This wasn't a cop -- this was a traffic warden.

There's your problem. Won't stick if you prove you're regd.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Welcome to Wellington :-)

Go and see the Council staff. You will have to degrade yourself in front of some supercilious arsehole of a minion but WTF!

    It is $200 after all.

{sigh} .... same old scratched record played on the wrong turntable ... yet again.

It's the local body who issue these ... and it's not even the Council, its Parking Enforcement Services which if you dig deep enough, you might find is a provate contractor.

So lets get off the cops = revenue bandwagon ... just for once huh?

Yup it does .... unless you want to try your luck in front of a Justice. The offence is "failing to DISPLAY ..." not failing to HAVE

Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule

And if it was on the bike and the Nazi Warden just didn't look?? Not unheard of, you know. I've seen them on face of the # plate, behind it, on the swingarm, on the screen....

I know, I know, but lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.

It's registered until mid 2008. If I remember rightly, the reason I didn't put the new rego on it as soon as the postie stuck it in my slot was that the bike was down at TSS, who were repairing the $1600 worth of damage done to it by the bloody shipping company when they dropped it off the back of the truck. So I put it in my desk drawer, thinking "must put that on when I get the bike back."
