    Welly noob! (gummibear)

Hi all i've just signed up to kiwibiker but haven't got a bike yet. I'm doing the roadsafe course in petone on the 26th and getting my learners soon after. I'm looking at buying a fxr150, any opinions on it?
I also want to meet the other girl bikers in welly, and maybe find a mentor too, any recommendations?

Welcome to KB, FXR's are great bikes! We had one for nearly a year. I rode it back from Gisborne where we bought it. SweetP did the KB 1000km ride-in-a-day on hers so they do road trips just fine. They have the greatest dashboard of any bike, especially for learners. Knowing what gear you're in is very useful. So is the fuel gauge - $20K bikes don't even have those

A couple of things to know
    - get a brighter headlight bulb
    - The speedo's all read +10kmh
    - Check the quality of the tyres

Welcome to KB gummibear, might see you around on some rides. Sometimes we have 'Chicks rides' which are awesome fun.

Try to read into the future and think what you are going to do with the bike you buy, while some people may find an FXR ok for long distance I wouldn't but of course if your just running about on it with the odd social ride it would be ideal.
Most bikes are much more purpose specific than most cars.

    oh yeah, and welcome

welcome to the site (not a club / gang / or mob btw)
im not by any stretch a mentor but i am very patient and dont mind slower rides if you want to go on slow localish rides for a while.

BuckBuckNo1 is a great guy to go on intro / noob rides with.

    Thanks guys

Wow everyone sounds so nice on here!
I'd be using my bike for commuting mostly, and casual riding so fxr seems good for it, but i'm open to suggestions. I'm also a little bit tiny though 155cm and 50kgs.
Are the girls rides ok for total newbies?
Thanks so much for replying everybody!
