    Harden the fuck up!

Some may remember last year when one stormy night I invited a stray cat inside - and she had kittens. We had her neutered, and the 2 males we kept. When my daughter moved back to Auckland a couple of months ago she took the mother with her - she is enjoying having an interesting backyard to herself, and with no competition has turned into friendly domestic moggy.

However, the neighbourhood is littered with her previous litters. The female from 2 years ago has had a male B/W and a fluffy tortiseshell....I tried to pick her up a few weeks ago and nearly lost a finger, not doing that again! The female from 3 or 4 years ago had a pure white (never seen it again) a B/W that looks so like our Andy that we call it The Clone, and two fluffy smoky greys with blue eyes, only one around now.You can see why the old mother cat felt a bit flustered with all the rellies hanging around.

Tonight I saw one of my cats in the backyard and went out to play with him....and the fluffy tortiseshell shot out of the grass near by.....but he stayed sniffing under the tramp.

It looked like there was a hedgehog there, but when I got closer saw it was a 3 week old kitten.A little tortiseshell.....her grey and white brother is dead under the hedge.....She is too young to lap,and will have to be fed with a dropper for a little while. My elder daughter turned up half an hour later, and I pulled the kitten from behind my back.... She does voluntary work for the SPCA,so the little one will be well cared for, although her own cat,who she saved as a runt, won't be too pleased.

    What a fucken poofter!

Next time, get a large plastic container, a length of hose and a rag, take it to your car, put the hose in the exhuast pipe and stuff the rag in their to prevent leakages. Place the animal inside the plastic container and seal it with a lid, then procure a hole for the other end of the hose and insert into container.

Start vehicle, leave idling for 10 - 15 minutes, return to vehicle, remove rag and hose from exhuast pipe, open container, remove animal and burry in back yard.

As god says "if you have a problem, get rid of it".

Aw, you big ole softie you! No, don't HTFU, you did a good thing

We got Patches that way - only she was about 6 weeks old when she found us. Still tiny tho - in fact, I can't even begin to imagine what a 3 week old would look like!!

It would seem there needs to be a CPL/SPCA blitz on your area to get them all fixed!

She was taken to the vet today, and as suspected has cat flu....which explains the dead brother. But not the absent mother.A little underweight for her age,but understandable for a stray.Feeding with the dropper and kitten milk, and all going well, doing things like chasing string and her tail, settling into human company very well. But my daughters cat is not impressed,we'll give it a few more days, and get back to you Jorja if he really can't handle the intruder.

I'm a cat magnet, surprise - and once I picked up a stray at the same time as we moved house....our old cat didn't like the kitten and went back to the old place,13 times before I gave up.Then another stray came to stay, and the original intruder got the huff. But even though he didn't like her,he would feed her - catching mice and calling for her to come and get them.

    Couple of cuties here....

Trust me, kittens don't suffice for grandkids. I tried this on mum earlier this year and she's still bitching about babies.

Good on ya Motu, it's fantastic that at least someone cares.
