Possible stuffed valve on tyre, easy fix or no?

Hey hey

So I went to pump up the tyres on the ol 1100 today only to find my local servo air pump had been vandalised and the only one that I found working was a BP one, the end of it wasn't an L shaped one, so it was a total bitch to get in between two discs on the front wheel.

After pumping it up and trying to get it off, I think I may have broke the valve a bit? I came home and heard a suspect "ssssss" noise, had a look and sure enough it was coming out of the tyre valve, I put my finger on it and it would sort of stop the air, I could feel it coming out at quite a pace on my finger.

Is there an easy fix to this? Or will I have to take it in somewhere to get it replaced? The tyre is ready to be changed, but not *quite* yet (got another hundred or so kms to go yet).

Any help would be much appreciated! Looks like the Toy Run is out of reach now

some of the old school valves can be screwed out, if that is an option you could screw in a new valve. otherwise, no idea?? if you can get air into it you could try a good wiggle and push it in gently a few times, it may sort itself.

Broke the valve or the valve stem? If its just the valve you can unscrew that and fit a new one easily but you'd need to have air on hand to blow it up again. Did you bend the wee pin or something as it would be hard to break really?

If it is the stem then they are a bitch to replace because you need the tyre off the rim to fit it from the inside.

Well it is completely deflated now, so I guess I'm going to be investing in a home pump hehe

I'm not sure if it is the valve or the valve stem, I've tried to unscrew it with just girly fingers to no avail and the wee pin on the inside *seems* to not be crooked but it really was a bitch to get the air hose inside there so I'm pretty confident that's what made this incident.

Pretty foreign to wheels and this bike (it's my old mans, we both ride it but I've been riding it most since I'm waiting on my 600)

You need the little tool to screw the valve out or one of the valve caps with the fitting on the end to do this.

Hopefully some friendly person with tool and pump in Auckland can drop round and rescue you.

Decent pair of long nose pliers would suffice, jewelers styles...

The centre pin in the valve is likely to be cocked over to one side. Just get something thin and push down on the pin and it may well right itself. Then it's just a matter of getting the tyre reinflated.
