havent had anyone touch or sit on any of my bikes without permission. its parked within view at work, and i will abandon my job on occasion to chase or see to any kids i see hanging around or getting too close. [walking distance from several schools supplying all ages means lots of kids]
in rough wind, i have it parked under the canopy outside the shop windows. its gets spotted a lot more there, and im distracted in keeping an eye on it.

i have offered sits and rides to those that show a genuine interest. most that get offered a sit decline hastily. a close friend and my boss both know they can have the keys whenever they like, provided im not riding it at the time.

i dont worry too much about kids... i dont mind a bit of muck, and scratches only add to the character. its the dodgy dole bludging adults we get in that worry me. i worry about bits getting swiped [side covers] or else the plate details being noted and them finding my address and stealing it.

Best not to start down that track... once you get started, suppressing the urge to beat every last breath of life out of their body might become too much. I think you would fine that the satisfaction of having the blood of some turd that touched your bike all over your boots would be well worth it... but only for a while.

So, in simple maths: since you got a shaft, you can't get it up!

    Righto, dully noted...

Seen a sticker on a bike one time that said:
"I wouldn't touch your missus, so don't touch mine".
    thought that was quite cool.
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

A few years ago was getting some fruit and vegs for the wife on the way back home. So came outside to see 2 kids climbing sitting on the bike So i asks them where is your mom or dad so pointed to the car next to the bike. So there old man jumps out and asks me if there is any problems. so I said no put the backpack down opened the rear door of his car and started climbing over the seats and pushing buttons and playing with the radio all sort of stuff. So of course he got upset and started swearing and go on about what the fuck do i think im doing. So just returned with a "Is there a problem?" Fuckers got his kids pretty fast of the bike.

Another one was out at mission bay.
Parked next to a car and he's kids was playing around the bike smearing sunscreen on the bike etc with there hands. Grabbed the sunscreen and starting polishing there car for them. That fucker also got upset! Espicially when is started rubbing the sunscreen into his seats just like his kids were doing!

Well, it was a German shaft, after all.

    ...

To address the thread's main subject, I had a small group of preschoolers wander up at Taupo track on Sunday as I was getting ready to leave, hopping with excitement. They were all about wearing my sweaty helmet and gloves and having a sit on the R1.

I fired it up in neutral for them, and the little girl on the bike reached forward and grabbed a handful of throttle (fortunately the bike was just ticking down after a few laps and everything was nice and warm). The look of pure glee that crossed her face when 140 or so horsepowers screamed at her was a sight to behold.

(If you're reading this, Steve, yes, I was pretty sure you wouldn't mind...)

It was one of the best buzzes of the day for me, particularly after mum came over and got photos of all the kids grinning hugely inside my smelly black Shoei.

In my humble opinion, guys who get grumpy about kids around their bikes are sad buggers.

If im there and making sure its all safe no worries. If it falls over onto them im held responsible and dont feel like dealing with that.

Absolutely agreed re. parents needing to keep their kids safe and in line when we're not there to supervise what happens around the bike. That's the responsibility of the parents, though. Can't blame the kids.

If i'm not in a rush, and the folks are decent sorts, and are genuine in their interest, i will offer a seat of the pants oppotunity.
Maybe that offer helps sway a good person to take the plunge, and get into riding.
Some bloke 30yrs ago let me sit on his Triumph, and rev the engine, and thats when the affliction kicked in.
Different story if somebody just climbs aboard. Thats when the "evil stare" makes an entry.
