Waterproof pants...

So rode to work this morning in the nice Auckland downpour, this was the first real soaking I have had in my gear and all in all it went quite well except the pants...

I spent a fair wad of $$ on rev'it gear. Got the Ignition Jacket and the Challenge pants, both are similar make. The jacket is mesh textile/leather and the pants mesh cordura I think.

Clothes underneath the jacket bone dry, sadly the pants wern't as good. They leaked all around the crotch, backside and thighs got damp and from the knees down got semi wet. I had the waterproof liner in on both.

Anyone else had problems with these? Planning to give the place I bought them from a call to see what they say.

I've got Revit trou and they are sweet. I have ridden in some shithouse weather in them and been bonedry underneath.

Look on the bright side. You would have got wetter going from the car to the office in your normal work gear.

p.s. My revit pants don't leak.

My Rev'it Factor pants kept me totally dry this morning in a 10km trip through the worst of the downpour.

Way better than my Rjays ones which left me with a wet behind more than once.

The Challenge if I remember are mesh pants so I don't think they will be quite as watertight.
Even so - take them back to where they came from and complain.

Yea they are mesh, Jacket is part mesh as well thou and no issues there.

The guys at Motomail gave me a replacement waterproof liner with no issues at all .
So looking at the weather, I find out this afternoon on the way home if that fixes it.

Yeah I had the same problem this morning. I dont really believe 'waterproof' when i see exposed stitching. And I generally hate the way cordura is done - the outer layer isnt waterproof whilst they have a waterproof skin on the inner - I mean, WTF, itll just absorb water and weigh 6kg extra.

correct me if im wrong but you are more within your rights to get a full refund under the consumers guarantees act - if the product label or advert whatever said 'waterproof' - ie it doesnt do what it says and not fit for purpose.

I've got R-jays pants, used to get a wet crotch on my ZZR but on my ZXR they're sweet as. This morning - 68kms hailing the whole way - cold hands - dry crotch... mmmm

Only thing I have found that works in a real downpour is seam sealed one piece rain suits. Most stuff starts out waterproofish but eventauly leaks through the crotch. About the only solution I have found is to wear dark pants so it's not so obvious and to reduce the "Piss yourself on the way to work?" comments.
