Those involved may look alive and be walking around but inside they are dead and soulless.

It's not the actual medals per se as much as it's the disrespect to those who earned them, and all their fellows - on both sides.

The people to whom these medals were awarded are 1,000,000-times braver than the thieving scum who have now desecrated their legacy.

Indeed and they fought so that the thieving wankers could share O2 with the rest of us, which is a waste IMO. I know of other items being returned after alot of bad press via the media. Hopefully this will pan out the same way.

The crazy thing is - the medals are really just lumps of metal - it is the history, the honour and the pride with which they were earned that gives them their true value.

And that is what has been stolen. The nations heritage and dare I say it................our culture.

All I will say here is that I'm very, very glad that I finally (after years of being short of round tuits) stopped at the Army Museum on my last ride down to Wellington and visited the Valour Alcove while the VCs were still there.

Words are inadequate to describe the feelings of sadness and anger I feel over this. It's a kick to our nations collective crown jewels, and spitting in the face of all our of veterans and war dead. A slow painful death would be too good for the scum that have done this, but what truly saddens me is the fact that our society has gone to shit so much that someone has even been able to concieve of this crime. To me things like this (and others worse to come I'm sure) are the result of political correctness, no more smacking, no more caning in schools.. no more mr plod giving a size 10 attitude readjustment.

My thoughts.
The people that stole them and the people who will receive them are now considered scum in the eyes of most people of this land. The thefts have insulted the people who were awarded the medals and the people that fought alongside them. It's not so much what they (the medals) are made of, it's what they represent. Medals are not won. They are awarded for courageous actions taken in the most difficult circumstances. Good luck to the authorities in getting them back.
