Enjoyed your write up and pics.
Glad you enjoyed your trip South.
Especially the Lindis which is sort of my back yard.
That shop and pump owner at Te Araroa has got a funny attitude towards "customers"!
It must get him into a power trip when he has fuel and customers don't!Wanker. Cheers John.
I'm hopeless at paying attention so I haven't read much yet. But they're some very purty pictures. I'm admiring the white wheels on your bike. I had though about spraying mine up in white thinking it would look good (rest of my bike is black, including the frame), but I won't be a copycat![]()
Awesome write-up. Was it very breezy when you went through Lindis Pass?? Last time I went through there I had quite an interesting ride.
Oldrider can probably vouch for that... He's probably had more than a few hairy rides through that...
Good on you mate for writing about your trip. Seems that there is the odd bit of decent reading on these forums after all.
I'm doing the Nelson-West Coast-Crown Range-Cromwell-Pukaki-Akaroa-Arthurs Pass-Westport-Nelson version of your circuit starting this Weds. I will be bloody glad of some blue skies such as you enjoyed. I had my rainsuit on for most of my last 800km ride around the SI.
Some great photos in there. I liked the "About 5km's short of the homer tunnel" shot the most.
Well done that man.![]()
Wow glad to see that people have enjoyed the story
Nah it was a beautiful calm day, but clouded over and started raining as we passed through Gore. Did have some very strong winds on the sunday of the Burt Munro challenge when we shot out to Bluff for breakfast though.
Copycat, meh, who cares if it looks goodThey were originally painted white but the paint started being chipped off by stones almost right away - which may be partly because the painter was shite. They've now been powdercoated and seem to be withstanding stones / tar spots / chain lube very nicely.
just seen this thread,
great photos![]()
Great thread!![]()
good boy.you're almost as well behaved as yosung.
am somewhat relieved you didn't have photographic evidence of the 2 senior citz playing silly buggers in the snow by the homer tunnel...![]()
Jim-bob the mechanic, Greymouth: That tyre's fkd..it wouldn't even make it to CHCH!
MV: "phew, just as well we're not goin to CHCH, then...we're off to AKL!!
No, but the photos of the shenanigans at the Greymouth pub are being held until being required for blackmail purposes...
Thanks! Great read and pics - I feel so lucky to live in the South (and I am not knocking the NorfCan't wait to get away and do something similar myself.... brilliant reading
