    Oh the irony!!! Nicked!!!

After all my posts in support of the law and those fine men and women who enforce the law... I got nicked for speeding!

Tonight on my way home from a meeting with a client I was following at some distance a 4X4 towing a trailer and he didn't seem to have trailer lights, so I was trying to see as I got closer, whether they were non-existent or just really weak.

Coming under the Silverdale overpass, (Yes I KNOW the HP often sit on the other side!), I wasn't watching the speedo and sure enough, he got me for 112km/h!!!

He did accept my explanation, and said he had to look twice at the trailer too, as he wasn't sure about the lights either! Still it was a quick $80 fine!

So I'm a bit sadder and wiser - haven't had a ticket since about '93, (speed camera for 61km/h), I guess I'm a bad example after all...

If you were following the guy with the trailer I'm surprised the copper didn't book him for exceeding 90kph (maximum speed when towing) but then that would fly in the face of allegations that the police are victimising bikes eh?

Well actually I was gaining on him so I'm sure the cop would have nicked himwas he speeding. I was still far enough back that I had trouble seeing his tail-lights. Plus I was in my car this time.

I'd just waved at a red CBR 250 as I passed him just before Silverdale, and he turned off there. So if he's reading this, "HI!"

Yeah I ALWAYS check my speed coming under there, too! I usually do between 105-109km/h, I try not to go over that.

Typical that the "one time"... Well maybe not strictly the "one time", but I rarely worry about the HP and I'd been priding myself on only ever getting that one camera fine in my entire driving history!!!!

Getting a ticket at 112km/h on such a straight road with a barrier and dual laning seems a tad zealous in my book. It is likely I know who it is. PM me a description and number off the ticket.

Sounds like he did not accept anything - he still gave you an instant fine regardless.

Edbear you are a good example mate and always will be. You have a good attitude to driving and riding and a good history from what you stated.

Thanks, mate! I can't argue, though. Maybe a bit zealous, but as I said in a recent thread, "Fair Cop Guv!" He's a biggish bloke, 40's?, dark hair, marked HP car. Seemed nice enough, asked if I wanted to see the reading but I told him I'd take his word for it, especially as I'd checked my speed just a second too late and I knew I was doing the 112.

Te Kauwhata is as well known as the Silverdale overpass!!! Yeah, we should start a "naughty club!"

Was plod a horsing around ("mane")??!!?

Well, as Ed says, it is a fair catch. the Limit is 100km/h and he exceeded that limit so no argument. Personally though I feel it is harsh given the road conditions there. However, they have their orders to follow... I just prefer it if they would do it in a more notorious spot for crashes and make sure they pick up the crims going past too.... adn the dickheads who drive too slowly and hold up traffic.

Kahikatea Flat Road is a prime example of slow drivers holding up the flow. Some go as slow as 65km/h.

Watch out Mom - the kharma that got Edbear may well get you next! 'Twas just the other day that Edbear made the mistake of boasting about only one ticket... ...and look what happened to him!
