Anyone going to Vic Uni next year?

    Today I just enrolled :

    - my youngest into a creche (and a back up)
    - my car into a uni carpark...(or 'the right to hunt' as they put it)
    - myself into uni

I have finally gotten my A into G and enrolled myself into a 3 year BCA with a major in Accounting. Then hopefully I will still be pumped, and do a 4th year to become a Charted Accountant.... does that sound nerdy?
Meanwhile on my days off, I'll be studying up on running my dads business and tutoring chess at my oldest's school....OK, that really does sound nerdy

Anyway, I'll be hard out studying and being a swot, but occasionally I might let myself be dragged into Eastide for a cold one (hint hint)

I am totally looking forward to the brain strain which will be shoving more knowledge into my wee head

.....Please remind me of this post if I ever complain next year .....

    Thumbs up

Yep - I'll be there too. My 5th year, woah! It's all good though - wouldn't be there if it wasn't. But I guess it's diff for diff people, sounds like you're quite into it though so it should be good! But (as I pm'd you) you should be using the bike parks! Eventually maybe?!
The best loos are in the 'basement' of the library - nice chequered tiles, and the best hot chockies (ie with marshmallows and choc fish) are at Illot. And the best place in the library to sleep is in the booths on the 3rd floor overlooking the Quad (which is inevitable in there because there's no oxygen in there, it's always warm, and the windows never let the light in properly cause they're covered in a layer of grime).

But you've been there all year?

There's the 'unofficial-but-most-handy' one right up against the north end of the Library (right between the Student Union building and the Quad). I think that's the most used one.
There's the 'big' one down below the south end of the Rec centre which is a huge bike park but I don't know if many people park there cause it's kind of in the waps compared to the others.
And there's the 'new' one in the resealed carpark outside Cotton. Pretty small but there's not usually many bikes/scooters there.

Just watch it if it's windy up there - I've had to pick up so many bikes and scooters over the years!

Been there for 2 years. Hrrrmph. Because I have lectures in the evening I never get to eyeball where the bikes park, and I have also never been given a tour so all dem names mean nuttin.

I will book your help for early next year, and pay with Hot Chocolate with marshmallows and chocolate fish if you can show me where they are supposed to be.

    Cheers

    Jim

    Good on ya!

My ex - the Devil Women Incarnate (alias The Sucker Of All That is Life), was an accountant. Went to her office once - they were all Major Major Pocket Protectors. Found out at the Xmax party that they were all Major Pissheads as well. Duel personalities almost.

Always seems to be jobs going for accountants! (then again, they probably have a good turnover as heaps of the ones in that office got done for fiddling)

    Good Luck!

I plan to be riding at the end of the year. That's when my budget will let me and thats when the kids will be going to the same school. For now the cage is the most convienient option :/

And I always found the best place to sleep at vic was in the basement of the library. Very quite....if you ignored all the people trying to do a root 'n' scoot

I use to hang out at uni for a couple of years...6th and 7th form were too boring, so I went to uni instead

The parties, the drinking, the older boys, the cooler girls...has much changed?
Not that I'll be doing any of that, now that I am a responsible mother of 2, who intends not to be swayed from her swotdom

Oh yeah - that's excellent news! Once you get into it you'll love it.

I have to stop making everything about me, me, me. F__king boring tard I am.

Sorry about hijacking, but I've struggled all year to get someone in admin to actually show me where the bike parks are.

    Bwahahahahaha... poor girl.

But you will most likely do the fourth year anyway, out of desperation, inertia, and a desire to avoid having to look for a job. Just don't be sucked into a PhD, OK?

Someone should start a chess thread. Favourite defenses, perhaps? Some public KB correspondence games, where we post our moves in notation, with comments interspersed?

That's right - I forgot you 'went' there already.

Yep - consider it booked! Sounds like there'll be a few of us there so we should all meet up and cause a bit of havock.

Another hint for new Vic-goers is that if you're going to be hanging around all day and want to ditch your gear, the lockers are just wide enough to fit your helmet and cost $20 a semester. But if you've only got a couple of lectures or are going to head home in between, there's not much point. It's best to work out where your lectures are first and then get the nearest locker.

Man I think you guys get ripped, we've got some that you just bring your own lock. Don't think you're suppose to pay for them
