NorthCross Shell garage bike discrimination

Griff i am with you,

i have been filling like this for 10 years, pretty much if you that much of a dick that you spill petrol all over your bike you get what you derseve, i guess some people can't multitask (stand and put petrol in), some bikes the tank designs are very diffucilt to full them up total, and with getting 200kms out of a tank only some times you need that 200kms and not 170, i can get another litre of fuel in my bike using this method.

Often another reason for this is often forecourts are slippy and people can slip while straddling there bike will putting petrol in but beint 6'2 and with a rather light bike i don't really have that issue either.

I worked in gas stations for couple of years, at one stage was pretty much managing one.

You know what I find funny.
People who straddle their bike to fill it right up to the top, then lose that same amount of gas out the overflow when they lean the bike over and bump over the kerb to get out of the driveway.

Hate to point this one out for you griff, but it is a health risk - dont believe me - go put a glass on petrol on your office desk......no? why not.
While its fine on a personal perspective, you are on their turf so OSH will rape them if anything happends. H&S Reg 1992 is quite clear.
Also, you bike, like most, will have an overflow. If you fill it too the top, it will empty on the first corner you lean into......so unless you ride a car....slowly.
your advantage to the fuel tank is zero.
Do the world a favor, don't make people lives more complicated because you are pedantic.

You'd have pissed yourself watching me a couple of weeks ago then.
I'd filled the Buell to the bottom of the spout, (a limit suggested in the manual) and was waiting on the forecourt for a mate to arrive for a ride. He was late, it was a hot day, I spat probably 300cc on the ground purely from expansion.

In many cases I'm sure you're right, but in my case I have a fill level which I can't use when the bike is on it's side stand as the bike sits at around 50 degrees to the ground. As long as I keep the petrol below this level none of it leaks from the overflow.

Try reading the signs up at gas stations.......

It says do not fill up your bike whilst sitting on it.
There is a picture of a motorbike with a person on it.... and a huge red cross right through it.

They have the right to refuse you on those grounds.
Same as those using cell phone of the forecourt, it is also a big No No.

Rules are there for a reason...... what if someone threw a smoke butt out..... and it landed on your bike........ BOOM........ bye bye.

Or if there was leaking fuel..... it sparked and lit up....... BOOM...... bye bye.

cajun... i work in a station currently, and when theres diesel on the ground [damn truckers] ive gone for a skate a few times. i always warn bikes that use the 91 on the diesel side to take care when pulling away. id hate to see someone sitting while filling, having their foot in a puddle of diesel and have that foot slip out from underneath them.

crashe... we have those signs, but the number of people who ignore them aint funny. twice ive had people smoking on the court, almost every single one uses their cell and all the rest of it.

Save yourself the hassle.

Just around the corner from that station there is the new BP on Rosedale.

The fuel is better.

Its not prepay.

They dont mind if you sit on the bike and fill.

Its clean and new - so the concrete is not slippery and covered with Diesel.

Staff are friendly.

Just type up a "Declaration of responsibility" that the till-operator has to sign. This will outline the formal responsibility being taken for instructing you "the bike owner" to balance the bike with one hand, whilst filling the fuel tank with the other.
Quite a bit of coordination required here, and one that your insurance company would be interested in...

"Bike fell over".
"What caused it?"
"Was told to balance the bike with one hand, while standing on a slippery surface."
"You got proof of this?"
"Yup."
