    Coatesville – Riverhead: Nov 6th

Need to try out my new helmet. My old one was giving me a sore forehead after about 40mins and I didn't fancy suffering that all the way to Taupo next week. I was only gonna spend about $500, but I have no self control when it comes to spending, so I brought a $800 Arai Astro/j.

    1. Meet up at McDonalds Greenlane @ 11:00. Leave at 11:30
    2. SH16
    3. SH28 (Coatesville – Riverhead)
    4. SH1
    5. Kahikatea Flat Rd
    6. Waitoki Rd
    7. Wainui Rd
    8. SH1
    9. East Coast Rd
    10. Glenvar Rd
    11. Beach Rd to Takapuna
Then back on the motorway to the Greenlane turnoff, through One Tree Hill to finish at Finnegans Irish Pub in Royal Oak for lunch.

It would have been cheaper, surely, to have reshaped the styrene liner with a spoon? (A tip from a fuller-headed gent with no choice of helmet).

Yeah, I've heard of that. Sounds like you've tried it?
I couldn't work out why sometimes mine was fine, and sometimes it hurt like hell after a short while. Turns out the removable liner has some small plastic fastener doodads that stick out from the liner a poofteenth of an inch (it's an imperial helmet). If I don't use a compass, micrometer and laser guidance system to position the helmet just so, it gives me grief. Problem with having an odd-sized (59 cm) head when helmets seem to be even sizes: mine's 58 (imperial) cm.
So anyway, I'd already decided to give it (helmet and/or head) a damned good thrashing with a spoon, but haven't got a round tuit yet.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Any recommendations? Stainless steel, plastic or silver? Soup, dessert, serving, tea or table? Japanese or British?

Stainless steel, serving. You need something with a reasonable amount of strength in the handle and a moderately progressive curve but not too curved.
