I think the bigger issue is the most insurance companies will not come to the party if you have a crash and are in breach of license conditions. Take out a nice shiny BWM on ya >250cc bike while you don't have your full and you could seriously hurt for many years, and I don't just mean your body from the crash impact. $400 would look like peanuts if this happened.

Insurance companies are not charities. They can be weasely enough as it is, without adding breaches of licence conditions etc to the mix.

I rode my CBR1000 for several months without a bike license at all, but I'm tough. I then went on a shonky LTSA authorised CBTA course and went from zero to full in 4 weeks. Suckers.

Ms King said a major part of the changes being considered included extending the graduated licence period. A requirement for more practical driving instruction could also be introduced.
...Shit, us under twenty fives have to ride a 250cc for a minimum of 18 months to start with.

I have an L-plate displayed and I was pulled over last thursday for speeding. I was doing 115kms in a 100km area and the policeman gave me a warning for breching the conditions of my license (still got fined $80 and 20 demerits for the speed though). He said the same as every one in this thread is saying about the fines. $400 and 20 demerits.

Also, my hyosung doesn't have 250 written on it anywhere and he didn't mention the CC's at all. But he probably just checked my rego instead
While you sit there liking things just cos' everyone else does, I'll be standing up here keeping it real.

Me never specifically for that, He probably just wanted to randomly pull you over.

Once I was pulled over for doing 70kph in 50 and the first thing the officer asked me is if i knew what cc bike i could ride on my license and then asked what my bike was and then proceeded to inform me of my speed.

Maybe you didnt look confident, and that's just the first questions they ask bikers? Because your bike surely doesnt look any bigger than 250cc :P And I'm sure a cop would pull over wobbly riders, sooo, were you wobbly? :P

PS.. How you been EJK buddy we're due to meet up again soon?

Had routine check on the the way to Coromandel couple of weeks ago. License class, CC rating, wof and rego. Although he asked me what the CC was - pointless IMHO.

The problem with a ZZR400 is it looks like a 600 not a 250, people often ask me if it is 1100.

Who offered you the bike? My sister is looking for a bike.

In Australia you would be able to ride it because it has a lesser power to weight ratio than a GSXR250

Really - man try the run to Akaroa over the summer - earlier this year they did a blitz over the weekends for a couple of weeks - pulled over every bike in Taitapu for a 'documentation' check, only bikes. They were very nice about it all.

I know a few Harley riders on their restricted!
