A knee down noob question. If you shift your weight enough and hang of the pegs, you can get around most corners without having to lean the bike that much aye? Hence is there any beneficial factor to knee down? As a newbie rider i find that there are a huge range of opinions on this. I personally don't intend on going knee down on public roads! As a mate said recently the roads a fuck more unpredictable than the track.

I damaged the pegs so much on the GN I'm going to have to replace one. But that's probably due somewhat to going hard on a 250 on the Rimutaka hill to keep up with others, and possibly incorrect riding lines.
No knee downs, wouldn't try it.

it is the strip of un-used rubber on the edge of your tyre because the bikes doesnt get over far enough to scrub that piece of rubber. Not leaning over to the edge of your tyre = chicken. It puts a ring round your tyre like a strip. wallah! Chicken strips. Just go look at your nearest Honda and you will see what I mean.

To get serial for a minute. Any road rider sho has no chicken strips needs a large wallet or needs to learn plastic welding.

36 years of riding and I very rarely get the knee down (Sometimes get a leg over though).

Current bike has taken me a year to be able to scrub the chicken stripes off the rear tyre, mainly due to a very bad steering wobble for the first 35,000 km. Now have no or very little of these on the rear and am working on scrubbing off the stripes on the front tyre.

I ride very mush as an addition to the bike rather than an appendage and therfore do not overly clamber around. Also has something to do with my fat gut balanced comfortablyon the tank.

Due to my advanced age my riding style was very much influenced by such riders as "Mike the Bike", Geof Dukes" and "Agostini" all of whom very rarely put the knee down. I fact I can remeber when people started talking about getting ones knee down and keeping the bike as upright as possible when cornering. If memory serves me right it was riders like Kenny Roberts and Freddie Spencer who shocked the world with their extravagant style of riding.
