Oh - and dropped the soundboard onto the concrete.

Ever see the clip where Blerta push a piano off the roof of the old Avalon TV studio?

Made quite a mess of the car it landed on

It would make a great noise to sample :)

Jim is totally right, if you want to survive in the rock circus you have to be 1/ available anytime ...day, night and in between
2/ versatile on your instrument ...dynamic and know what and when you should and shouldn't play.
3/ play anything from ballroom, traditional, country, jazz, rock, rap, reggae, etc ...you don't have to like it, the money at the end of a night speaks for itself, think of it as training.
4/ play anywhere ... weddings, schools, concerts, confined spaces, outside, dark corners, anywhere, done a few bike rallies too.
5/ play with anyone, and keep level headed.

Just some experience i picked up as pipe band drummer for 12 years and covers band gigging drummer 28 years.

What makes me smile is when i heard people rubbishing bands at rallies, they just have no idea the hard work that goes into playing in a working band. Was the band really crap or is it that your ears are simply attuned to the drone of your engine. If you can do better, prove it.

Good Luck with the jam Xile, that's how it all starts.
"I want to thank you lord, so far this day. With your help i haven't been impatient, lost my temper, been grumpy, judgemental, or envious of anyone. But i will be going out in a minute and i think i will really need your help to start my bike. Amen."

you can't make money and a living performing in NZ - only small exceptions. Stop trying. It's easier overseas.

The people who make a living are usually the ones behind the scenes of the bands - if you want bands directly management usually makes a bundle. If you want technical, the sound engineers and staging guys make fair income.
