    RGV250 carb jetting

Need some help with this... skim to the highlighted questions if this is up your alley

Here's what I have in my Jap spec 1993 RGV250

34mm throat, no marking whatsoever except Mikuni Corp and 'Made In Japan'
    Main Jet 260L 250R
    Main Air Jet 0.6
    Jet Needle 6GH13-55
    Needle Jet P-5L P-4R
    Pilot Jet 20
    Pilot Air Jet 1.0
Power Jet 1 - No where to put this that I can see... no thread in float bowl, no nothing
Power Jet 2 - I've actually got no idea at all where these are to be found, can't find them on any of the diagrams

    Here's what a 45hp RGV250P would normally have
    32x28mm throat, 23D 2 stamped in it
    Main Jet 260L 250R
    Main Air Jet 0.6
    Jet Needle 6GH13-55
    Needle Jet P-5L P-4R
    Pilot Jet 20
    Pilot Air Jet 1.0
    Power Jet 1 - n/a
    Power Jet 2 - n/a

So it appears that I've got some 34mm carbs jetted down to the 45hp specs... plus, I think the float bowls from the factory carbs have been swapped over. Presumably.. no idea.

What I reckon I want is
34mm throat, 22D6 stamped in it
    Main Jet 270L 280R
    Main Air Jet 0.6
    Jet Needle 6GH9-55
    Needle Jet P-0
    Pilot Jet 27.5
    Pilot Air Jet 1.3
    Power Jet 1 - 40L 35R
    Power Jet 2 - 0.6

So what I think I've got is the 34mm carbs from an SP, with the float bowls from a jap restricted one (because the PWJ is in the float bowl right?).

What's going to happen if I get the needles and jets for the carbs I've got, even though they have no power jets?

I wonder if I can buy the float bowls for the SP anywhere...? Are both the Power Jets supposed to be in the float bowls somewhere? Diagrams only show the first power jet, none of them mention this second power jet

what year did they swap from running leaded to unleaded fuel?

You'll want the unleaded fuel kneedles and jets

    Re: RGV Carbs

    Gidday,
First thing I'd be doing is taking the chassis number & getting Suzuki N.Z to I.D the bike for you - Jap Domestic model or not, they'll be able to do this...

Once they have given you the correct model I.D. ask them to fax or e-mail the pages from the parts catalogue covering the carbs, that way at least you'll be able to figure out whether the carbs you have are or are not the correct ones for the bike...

Do you know the exact model(s) that the "Power Jet" equipped carbs were fitted to - if so, ask for a copy of the parts diagrams for these carbs as well

I'm picking your only option will be sourcing a spare set of carbs second hand, but it wouldn't hurt to ask whether there still available "Ex Japan"

Northern Accessories are the N.Z master agents for Mikuni - they may be able to supply a suitable alternative or some useful information if you come up empty handed

    Cheers

To finish first - first you must finish... Oh b.t.w, which way doe's Turn 1 go & whats the lap record...

Don't have this info Otherwise that definitely would be the first port of call.

SP models out of Japan, or any UK or Australian bikes.

Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers have them off an Aussie bike (i.e. factory full power), for $100 each so I'll do that
