    If you really must know whether you need one, get Dave to do a base line dyno run.
    On some bikes, the PC3 smooths out the power curve and makes them feel much nicer. Doesn't always add huge amounts of power though.

    This seems a related topic:my 851 backfires a bit when I throttle off (on the downchange). It is not a quiet bike anyway so the backfires are somewhat howitzer like ...... It has the factory Weber Marelli EFI and standard chip etc but is running slightly freer breathing mufflers (they're stock Ducati mufflers that have been bafflectomied). The backfiring is not a problem in itself but I wonder if it is a symptom of a problem (e.g. running too lean). I don't want to do the engine any harm by running it too lean or whatever else might be wrong but the bike is going great so before bothering with the expense of diagnosing the cause of the backfiring (eg a dyno run) I would be interested in any comments about whether I need to be concerned about the backfiring in the first place.....any advice appreciated
