What to look for in a projector tv?

decided i want a prolector tv for watching movies and sports on and want to know what to look for in getting a good one.
they say all this shit about contast and lumins and basically stuff that means nothing to me.
anyone here know what i need to look at when buying one?

Projection TV, you mean projection onto a screen, lamp life & replacement lamp cost is another consideration, expect to pay $2,500 upwards for a projector of quality.

there was a sony one that came with a 100 inch motorised screen and a replacement bulb for 3200 i think it was.

If you mean rear projection TV's - don't bother - its a case of never mind the quality madam, just feel the width.

Don't get a rear projection tv. Go for an actual projector instead or downsize to an LCD/Plasma

High Lumins (2000+) is for presentations, high contrast for movies etc, so go for something with quite high contrast, theres more to it but thats the extent of my projector knowledge, Ive looked into projectors $2500 and upwards..for what I required.

Don't buy an overpriced screen,get the sizes you want,then price up a rollarshade(new type of holland/rollup blind)in white,has a chain operation,so can be screwed to wall at scotia height,and when not in use just roll it up with chain pull.Comes in max width usually 2- 2.4mts by 2.5mts deep.

Basically go and buy the new Panasonic PT-AX200, for around $2500 it can't be bettered. Great images, easy to set up and 1280 x 720 resolution with excellent contrast.

My brother has a 1080p projector and I'm pretty sure he paid just under $3k for it (thats at least 8 months ago). Worked great, good picture and 100"+ screen...great for the xbox360.

Should easily get something in the $2 - $3k range that will do everything you want.

My brother has a 1080p projector and I'm pretty sure he paid just under $3k for it (thats at least 8 months ago).

My brother-in-law is an electronics geek; not for him the shitty 'consumer' projectors. He bought a Sony 1080P unit that I worked out would've cost him around $12K, even with any industry discounts he may have scored.

My poor sister still doesn't have proper interior doors for some rooms though.
So, who needs a toilet door or washbasin when you've got a 4m-wide screen and 1080P projector in your lounge, eh?
