A huge big thank you to everyone that helped me - you KNOW who YOU are - and all of you that made me feel really welcome to the group.

Ya right, Helen, i didn't enjoy the wind much at all (especially when it put me in a ditch but hey! what can ya do! ) but it was great to actually be out on my newbie wheels.

Look forward to doing it all again soon. (well not all....)

For those of you not in the know, Jeff might not be out again for awhile.

Coming home last night with Elliot, he was tailgated and hit by a car while going through Hornby.

I'd say he is alright considering the first thing he said to me was about his bike being busted... not him.

I'll talk to you about this further tonight... if you want to, that is. I've got some ideas I'd like to talk to you about, but yeah, only if you're wanting to. I don't think they're less valid even though you've been riding bigger bikes much longer than I have.

For shorter rides there's also the option of Godley House at Diamond Harbour. If people are wanting more the trip up over the pass to Port Levy is a pleasant enough ride - although I wouldn't go up that way after dark as a group.

    FFS!

Good to hear he's sorta alright! Did he get the authorities involved?

He can get me involved. Ive got a whole bunch of good things under my bike seat that can inflict pain or fix a broken bike. Just ask Nathan.

Hows that headlight going? Get it all sorted.

Electrical tape and lock wire will fix anything period.

Only problem is that in winter Dyers Pass gets a large amount of grit thrown at it, and it really isn't much fun skating around on it. Going out through Halswell is the better (but more boring) option, but Gebbies Pass can still be hairy in winter. Either grit, or if they haven't bothered, icy patches, esp at nighttime. Probably best to curtail the CWNR over winter and pick it up again next daylight savings, and let people arrange amongst themselves if they want to go for a ride. Or, as someone mentioned, make it a daytime Saturday ride.

yes, the police are involved and hopefully the guy will be charged with careless use of a motor vechile, but still doesnt seem enough to me, when he drove into the back of my bike while i was on it, after i had pulled over and stopped.

There's the tunnel mate. I would at least be very, very careful on any of the passes over winter. I don't think Dyers would be more dodgy than Evans or Gebbies...

Damn right! The mighty Zonga (rattle and clang) lost a grand total of two nuts and a bolt on the ride last night!!!! But thanks to Spuds, and his amazing collection of bits 'n' bobs, the headlight was secured after losing one of its bolts! I'm off to Mitre 10 today to get another bolt and some spring washers!

Thanks again for hangin back with me Spuds, highly appreciated! The mighty Zong made it to 97kph last night, a new land speed record, but only in the really sheltered places. That wind was a killer, dropped me down on the speed side something crazy!

All keen for next week, and whatever happens over winter. Saturday sounds good, or we can take it week by week and if the weather is good, go for Gebbies or Port Levy then Halswell Tavern. Or if the weather is poor maybe we can do Garage nights!
Missus: What the f*&k is that???!!!! Where the f*&k do you think that's going??
Me: It's a [insert old broken vehicle here] can't you tell?
Missus: Oh for f*&k's sake... [slams door]
Me: Phew, lucky she didn't see what's on the trailer!

Consider getting some non-permanent fastner and apply it to "problem bolts"

I'll add a vote in for that, as long as there's beer and a garage BBQ to keep things interesting!

elliot and me were coming home from the wednesday night ride.
was going down carmen road in hornby, past the workingmans club and this guy pulled out from the left in front of me and cut me off, so i went around him.
then he started tailgating me and swerving behind me. we came up to the lights and they turned orange, so, i went through hoping to lose him, but he carryed on through too. so i indicatored and pulled over outside hornby high and then he drove straight into the back me on purpose when i stopped.
the whole back has been pushed in, he hit me so hard, the back of his car came up in the air.

cops are going to probably charge him with careless use of a motorvechile
