Alcohol is never offtopic on a biker forum - those things goes together like shorts and roadrash!

But an infraction is pretty harsh - someone is watching this thread closely methinks...

Yep also - a friend came along with me tonight so we went on out to Governer's Bay via Sumner, for a drink and a plate of chips. Just a short ride but used the opportunity to pillion my first passenger, and it's always good to get some fresh air.

Good to meet Clive at the Moorhouse Ave car park, and hope to see you at next Wed's ride - I'm sure there will be a bigger turnout, but maybe not quite as many as it sounds like you are used to!

    Cheers all ~

Onya for pillioning, how did you find it after only having taken yourself?

I think there are plans afoot have a longer ride, maybe this sat as the weather looks positive, poss somewhere just on the west coast... watch out for details
Its time we did a longer ride again that wasn't just aimed at getting to a rally

Yeap, just me Karla and karla's friend and then I shot off to go out to dinner with a friend and left those two to their own devices (unless more people showed up at 6:30?)

Oh, and Clive was the fellow with the adventure bike and showed up in a van was he?

It was fine, slowed me down a little but I just cruise at my own speed anyway. I found myself tensing up a bit and being pushed into the handlebars when he leaned into me, and had to consciously relax my arms - on a long trip that would get a bit tiring I imagine. My boy is very light and it felt like he might blow off at times - in fact I understand he was flapping his wings at one stage, will have to address that! ~

I think a sissy bar is a necessity for pillioning youngsters.

yeah theres a knack to pillioning and a sissy bar is a big help. Was he holding on to you or a bar at the back? Whenever I've been a pillion or taken a pillion, I've always preferred to have one arm round the rider and another holding something on the back, to help keep the weight consistant whether you are accelerating or braking. Some pillions put their hands on the tank to hold their weight, prob more effective on a sportsbike than a GN
One thing I have always found the extra weight of a pillion (or even a pack) to actually help keep the bike firmly on the ground when riding, def some advantages! Tho pack is easier cos it doesn't wiggle!
And hows the bike hunting going?

But I've just arrived and I haven't done anything wrong (yet). Already out on the street!

Do moderators let us know what they are thinking? Or do we all have to use guesswork?

    Give Quasi a pm.. http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=9633

He did have a really good looking safety strap for pillions, that goes around the rider with sturdy hand holds for the pillion to hold onto.. but I can't see it on his website today.. if you pm him & ask, he may still have some there..

The weather is too nice for my bike to be sitting in the bloody workshop. I'm rather envious of people who can ride these days. To add to my annoyance we've had my in-laws staying at the house for almost a week now! *grumble* Gone very early tomorrow though, good riddance!

We used to talk about the PIE, but that was in the old days. Things are different now and we've become wiser... Don't talk about the fucking PIES - they're out to get us all!

Mmmmm Whisky... I love the stuff. Big fan of the Laphroaigh and the Lagavullin. I have a nice bottle of 23 year old Port Ellen, Islay, whisky sitting around for special occasions. That is some really nice stuff

Beer => Red Wine => Port => Whisky - the only flowchart a real man needs... The order of the items and the direction of the arrows is important though! Drink too much and one sometimes forgets and disaster follows.
