I might come along, I'll see how the hang over feels on the morning in question .. LOL

I'd be happy to hang at the back and act as a meat shield for any newbies

Crap! I stupidly assumed that as I won't be back to work then that hardly anyone else would be. Doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm in Chch from the 4-8th but might plan another ride on the 12th or 13th

hey, I might be able to grab that stebel I've been meaning to pick up for how long now? If you do come along can you chuck that in your jacket for the short ride to westgate?

    Choice.

Just signed up for the ride. I'm confident on the open road but will just need a quick lesson in group riding as this will be my first. Will see guys tomorrow, can't wait.

Just becareful guys, the roads to Shelly Beach had some bad pot holes last time when I went there.

Some parts of the road had no middle-striped lines and it was quite narrow.

Btw, fish n chips there is GREAT. Chunky chips FTW.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Macstar and I went put that way a while back and it had received a few repairs and had a few spots of fresh seal with a loose shingle in the centre, it was a while ago so should be all good by now

That side road down to Shelly Beach is pretty tight and narrow but usually has next to no traffic...perfect

+1 on the fish & chips

No worries. The main things are:

    a) ride your own ride - ride as if you just happened to find a bunch of other bikes on the road. Don't ride the same line or speed as the guy/gal in front as they may be more or less skilled than you.

    b) we'll ride in a staggered formation when in built up areas and maybe on the straights.

Yeah that last bit after the turn off had heaps of mud on it when I went through there at the start of last year.
