    Hi there.

I walked away from my job on a friday last year. Walked back into my work with a lawyer the following wednesday. 100% recomend it.

Watching my superiors (managers and company owner) get PWNED to the point of being red faced and speachless by my lawyer was PRICELESS and left me grinning for days.

The couple thousand dollars that I walked out with made the $600 lawyer fee a good investment. Thankfully i found another job pretty quick and only had a week long holiday between jobs.

    Good luck :-)

Totally agree. Don't take any shit, a good worker will always find a job, even if it's just a fill-in for a while.
I had a boss tell me I couldn't work his machines coz I had long hair (back when I had hair) even though it was under a beanie. I said 'fuck you' walked out and had another job that afternoon. The union backed me coz I was allowed to tie my hair back and he wasn't in a position to tell me to cut it. I got all my owed pay and holiday cash. Brill.

I had the same problem in a job I had a few years ago. The other photographer who worked there was quite intimidating and the boss didn't like to upset him, so he gave in every time he demanded something. I covered his shift as well as my own for three weeks while he went on holiday and he agreed to work Boxing Day for me so I could go to Wanganui for the bike racing. A few days before Christmas that year the boss said I would be working right through. I said this guy had agreed to work for me and was told he'd changed his mind. I pointed out that I had covered for him while he was on holiday and was told that was what I would have been expected to do anyway. I was really pissed off as I spent the day wandering around taking photos of Christmas babies, etc. A few weeks later I was told I had to cover his weekend shift as he had a sick aunt he was visiting. I found out later - as did the boss - that he'd actually been in Hawke's Bay for a bloody job interview!

He wanted to become a dive instructor, so on quiet days he'd come in and tell the boss there was hardly any work on so he was heading off for a dive, and then he'd walk out. I think he was pissed off with me because I'd complained about him taking his dog to the beach in the work car - I'd get it covered in sand and dog hair and smelling like a kennel! When I told him not to do it any more, he really went off at me. He yelled at me, saying the junior photographer (we were both employed as photographers, neither of us was a senior or a junior!) didn't tell the senior photographer what to do. He was over 6' tall and I am just over 5' tall but I yelled back, saying "sorry sir, how would you like your coffee, sir?" and I really thought he was going to punch me!

My husband works over Christmas (not Christmas Day though) as we usually head off on our holidays at other times of the year but he does get annoyed that the rest of the staff seem to expect him to do it all the time and take it for granted. One day, when he wins Lotto...!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
