Dunno, when low beams are on the indicator on the dash (instrument panel?) lights up for high beams. When I actually flick the switch for high beams it just gets brighter.

Is it more wear on the right side than the left? I understand that's not uncommon, given the camber on the roads. You can check for straightness of frame by stripping all the fairings, tank etc off the bike then using two lengths of string check for symmetry on the bike.
Less wear on the right side, more on the left.

When did you bleed them last?
If you happen to look out and see a green & yellow tow truck parked by your bike some time this week,an there's a balding Tattooed scuff checking out the rear brake, don't panic.
It's just somebody I know quite well
    Brakes last bleed? Never...
Hehe I've only had the bike say 2-3 thousand k's, so I guess I'll add it to my list of things to do.

I knew I should have bought that bike alarm Bike wont be anywhere near GC this week with any luck, have to take it in for 3 horrible exams next week though

Thanks for the advice, I start a real job towards the end of November and should have some money to turn my bike into something I can be proud of, heh or atleast one that won't surprise me with a new problem everytime I got to take it for a ride .

I think a multimeter and some time would sort out your indicator, but the tyre wear sounds a little worrying. String line the frame, and maybe get your forks checked out at a shop.

Alternatively if your frame is bent and your going to buy a nice shiny bike to replace it can I crash this one for you? Please? I like crashing things.

If this bike is fudged then I should get a new bike early next year. Though watching you crash this hunk sounds like fun I think It would be better to try and sell it off.

Would it be worth more for parts than it would as a whole bike? If so I reckon you could probably get a few low sides out of it before breaking it.

The other thought was with the talk of wheelies and stoppies happening in the other thread, maybe we could all pitch in and make it a communal bike for the purposes of stunt practice..

so you mean the switch block is broken?
Go visit atomic bike wreckers and see if they have something. Otherwise if it's the contacts spraying some switch cleaner might sort it out.

That'll be a short in your instruments, dont worry about it, or just spray lots of contact cleaner in the relevant area

    rusted over screws
are they important screws? Are the heads rusted completely, or do they just not turn? A bit of CRC never hurt anything alot (that and turps are my miracle tool kit in a can/bottle when I'm serving the neighbourhood children's bikes)

    TICK

    broken fairings
Got a soldering iron? I've patched mine back together with a soldering iron and some cable ties as welding rods. Worked well for me.

    TICK

    torn seats
Find somewhere that sells vinyl, and recover it yourself. A bit of glue and a staple gun should do the job I'd think.

TICK - Paparazzi/Magua, have a look at my seat sometime, home made cover roughly patterned off the previous one, with a seing machine and vinyl. However, you have only a square block not a contoured seat, so should be piss easy. Tip is to have the vinyl out in the hot sun, and stretch it on hard. I had to re-fasten mine three times after it stretched with use (new vinyl), even after using a hairdryer and hot sun to soften it and heave on the vinyl.

uneven wear on the tyres (twisted forks?)
Is it more wear on the right side than the left? I understand that's not uncommon, given the camber on the roads. You can check for straightness of frame by stripping all the fairings, tank etc off the bike then using two lengths of string check for symmetry on the bike.

    TICK

    cracked speedo glass
Is it possible to disassemble your speedo to get at the glass? if you measure the circumfrence and thickness of the glass, you should be able to get a piece cut to fit.

Speedos are not the sort of thing you disassemble yourself - otherwise every bike would only have delivery kms on it.....

    sellotaped mirror.
I'd go with gaff instead of sellotape. It looks more manly. Otherwise check out the price of a replacement mirror at somewhere like atomic.
My mirrors are a bit nasty looking, but they function perfectly, and I reckon I should be able to get another decent crash out of them.

    TICK - Manly huh... Probably

    My second opinion in bold.....

Brakes are doable with the right tools, and a little bit of expertise. I guess you have air in your brakes somehow....

Think I may be time wasting with this uneven tread wear, it's not something I've really worried about. It's something I stumbled across. Don't know if you can see in this photo but the difference isn't massive.

In the name of science I measured my chicken strips. There is about 5mm more to the chicken strip on the right side.

I used to have the same problem. Sidestand heel tang would dig in with a most alarming scritchy noise every evening when I went through the off-camber left-hand corner connecting Thingy Street up onto Wotsit, linking from the Northern to the Northwestern. It still only has about half the blob on the end of it left, with a nice flat under-face to it.

But a bin a while back did a nice job of bending the tang back to just the right angle so that the footpeg touches down before it does.

I recommend the same modification. You might prefer to do it with a crescent and hammer if you want the 'surgical precision' approach, though.

Ack Shirley, I went to see him at luncheontime. The special promotion he is going to run (discounted parts and labour, to start Motohaus's new Servicing Empire) is only a few weeks away, but I'm sure if you mention it, he'll do you a good deal now.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
