After what seems like a Boom year for KBers starting racing...who's keen to give it a shot this year??
What are you plans?? Ie: bike/class wise??
and what are you hoping to achieve?
For me , not interested anymore, high costs little return ie a few laps a couple of times on race day............ya fucking what? as well as what I see as poorly run events being to often the case.
Trackdays are where its at for this fella
Good luck to those that race though, Im there to watch
Ive run out of fucks to give
Mate I retired from competition at the end of 1984 and never renewed my competition licence after it expired mid-1985. Road and adventure rides are where its at for my old bones these days when I have time. Don't mind watching young fellahs race though of course.
Cheers
Merv
A track day for a start. I'd like to give sidecars a go (swinging) too.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
Would like to give it a go... Might put some crash bungs on my Triumph and take it up to one of the track days in Timaru/chch.
Gotta buy a new work vehicle in the next few months... tossing up between a station wagon and trailering the bike or just get a van...
If someone wants to give me a bike, race leathers, a tow vehicle and trailer I willSeriously.
But seeing as how that's not about to happen, I'll stick to being a spectator and fan of the big kids.
I was going to race but i think i'm just gonna buy all the gears and do track days; every track day i can.
That way i can keep the expense down and still learn everyone
:slap:
Track days are great and I enjoy getting on the track, but I love the satifaction of getting in a race battle with someone on the track. Trackdays can't provide that satifaction for me.
plus you can't say to the chicks that you race if all you do is track days!
Yep, I'm thinking about it. Most likely a 600 of some sort in the Vic Clubmans class. After a few years of racing buckets in Aussie, it will be good to get on something a little less cramped and take some time to learn how to race it properly. I'll do plenty of track days too, but small steps for this year if I can get it all organised, and then look at something a little more serious for '09.
Don't really think I would cope ... but hey I think I make an ok grid dolly! Check your chinstraps girl!
Yep going to drag my old bones about on the recently aquired Honda. The street racing is what i am looking forward to the most but have to do the track part first before i can.Looking forward to giving it a go instead of watching. At my age combined with what i will be riding i am not expecting wonders but am sure i will go out there and have a ball.Kind of feels odd that after riding bikes since i was 9 years old i am basically going back to square one as far as the in/outs of racing go,got to admit after many bikes and thousands of kms over the years i sometimes find my interest waning but this has me well interested again and figure i will learn heaps so all is good,no doubt improve my road riding as well.
Be the person your dog thinks you are...
I think I might give buckets a go this year.
Need to find a derelict CB125 twin as that's what I used to race many moons ago.
"...you meet the weirdest people riding a Guzzi !!..."
I keep on thinking of coming back to racing, I always had a lot of fun. But, then once I factored in how much time and $$$ I spent against how much actual racetime, and the per minute ratio was high! I mean, how many actual minutes of racing do you do at a race event (multiply lap time by number of race laps). Vic Club almost had more time devoted to practice than racing!
Nats was always fun, but the weather was invariably crap. One year it was all rain at Puke and then Teretonga and not a lot of sun in between. The travel was an adventure in itself and last time I went with the gimp in his bus and Craig Sheriffs. The number of eggs that were thrown that year
Now, I engage in flying old warbirds. Its about the same per hour and you can have a lot of fun low flying and aeros
Having said that, I still have a lot of RS125 parts (like the BPS ignition) that I have to decide upon whether to keep or sell off this year. Mmmmmmm
