powering HARD system with external batteries

I'm really good at leaving my HARD system turned on in my helmet and draining the batteries. They are a hassle to replace and quite expensive ($5 each). It runs on two 3V CR32 battries (like big watch batteries). I can get 3V CR123a camera type batteries from work. They are the ones about half the length of a AA battery and similar thickness. Could I just wire these in instead of the internal batteries and get a way longer battery life and if so where would I be able to find a battery box to put them in.

Just make one out of a match box with some tape....

But yes if the voltages are the same if should be fine, but does the Hard run on 6 or 3 v?
