Greymouth Street Race 2008 - All Go

Hey guys, the 19th Annual Greymouth motorcycle street race is all go for 2008. A newsletter on changes to classes and grid draws along with other information will be going out to last years entrants within the next few weeks. We have pretty much the same core committee as last year but now have a new organizer. The new organizer is a lady by the name of Debbie Collings. Debbie has been on our committe for several years as the club and race day secretary so she knows how things work and with the commitee's help im sure the event will be better than ever. Debbie takes up a full time position as the Councils events coordinator with her main event being the street race. Her first task will be to send out the news letter. Debbie also intends to set up an information website for riders and spectators but untill that happens then im happy to field any Q&A.s on this thread as i did last year. I will post the newsletter on here for those who wont get one in the mail once it becomes available.

    only 5 months to go!!!

    cheers, Steve Hyde

    Vice President / Club Captain

securing TV coverage is a priority for sure. wheels are already in motion for it. The West coast development trust and the council were stoked at the feedback from the west coast promotion during the ad breaks so its highly likely we will have it again. I just hope some of these young guns, and old guns of course come along and give glen a run for his money this year cant have him having it all his way again, especially on nationwide TV.

its always the sunday of labour weekend, It gives competitors the monday to travel home. this year i think is sunday October 26th.
We intend to make changes to the classes this year so that the 600s and Superbikes get a bit more track time. the laps at greymouth are pretty short so we hope to give more bang for ya buck, especially for those who travel.

dangerous - im not sure on the Kings hotel package, once debbie sorts out our new email address (old organizer has rights to old one) i can forward those sort of questions to her. Deb has always sorted the accomodation bookings for riders so will have a good idea of whats on offer this year and may include it in the newsletter.

White Trash - Entrys traditionally go out mid to late august. you should be well looked after - those feral racing boys (Eric and Clint) must owe ya for the hospitality during the nationals. im sure they will show ya how things are done here on the coast.....once banjo practice is over of course.
