well we did a test today. Got a F-. Loaded up the bike with everything we were going to take and went for a run through the gorge. Bike handled like a honda and I thought it was the extra weight on the back of it but after 10k had a look and found the air on the wrong side of the rear tyre.
bugger really. hope it will be back up and running tomorrow night for some more testing.

The ol' air at top of tyre problem eh?

Just as well today not Friday, but then on Thursday you will check the tyre pressure right?

At least with a flat tyre the zooki guys can get ahead of you, shit did I really say that.

Roll on the 100000km on trip, great milestone to achieve, reliable beast,so you can forgive a slow leak.

let me see. bike loaded up with luggage, deck chairs, sleeping bags and tent........... 2 up....... with arse end moving about a foot either way going into the corners. Might need something else to let the zooki rides get ahead.

Was an 'interesting' ride all the same. My mind was all on the extra weight on the bike and I never thought about the tyres till we got through the gorge. Mrs Cowboyz was not real happy about the way the back of the bike was trying to overtake the front though.
Took wheel off and dropped it into garage this arvo so should be fixed tomorrow. Then might have to go for more testing. looking forward to next weekend.

should have just rotated the tyre and put the bit with the air back at the bottom...

Doesn't take much change in pressure to upset the apples,my front was a bit vague, went to garage and pumped it up a few psi,big difference.Best tool is the gauge in garage.

Long way to travel two up if bike feels strange handling wise,at least it is easy fix,and easy to miss,to often you think oh just extra weight due to pillion, and luggage.

The way Monie rode yesterday we might be lucky to catch her if she gets "a few k's ahead". Riding real nice.

Kinda off topic but I was wondering what the optimum tyre pressure for my bike would be as I would like to check it before I head off on friday.

Check to see if it's written anywhere on the bike first, if not go see the workshop guys at PT's or maybe Paul in parts but check you're bike first it maybe on the chain guard or it will be in the manual if you have it.

I would try something like 32/34. Basically the lower your tyre pressure the more you tread will move which means the tyre will heat up quicker, offer more grip but wear out quicker. i run mine really hard 40/42 (but they are bigger tyres) because road riding (especially highway riding) you never get anywhere near requiring maximum grip from the tyres. You could even go 34/36 if you are taking a big of gear with you to see the difference it makes.

Cheers for the info, I am only carrying a back pack as I will be staying up at home in Pirongia so the extra preasure probably won't be necesary.
