To pick up the bike: leave it in gear, squat on the business side of the bike, facing away from it with your arse against the seat. Reach back and grab the handlebar with one hand and something behind the seat, down low, (rear guard?) with the other.
Push your arse into the seat and straighten your legs, lifting with both hands.
Helps if the bars are turned so the grip you're holding is close to your hip.
Put it over on the lawn and try it, takes bugger all effort. Does help to stop pushing before the bike falls over onto the other side though.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
