    Medals stolen

Just saw on the news some Victoria Cross medals were stolen after a heist in the early hours of the morning at the Waiouru Museum.
    What disrespecting a-holes !!!!!!

Bastards! They'll have fun trying to sell them though.

Yes, but won't it be like high end art theft? The rich collector who has "ordered" them will know they are hot, he or she just wants the thrill of owning them and doesn't care if anyone else ever knows they have them?

I sincerely hope it's a bunch of keen amateurs who don't really know what they have got in to, rather than stolen to order.

Those medals were targetted. The buyer(s) won't care, and will have them tucked away for their private viewing pleasure. They are collectively worth millions...didn't the family turn down $3.5M for Charles' VC and bar?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Well, they'll know what they have after it was blabbed on the news how much they are worth.

    Community action

If the culprits are caught (and proven guilty) I'd suggest community action.

I will volunteer my pine tree and my rope.

The people to whom these medals were awarded are 1,000,000-times braver than the thieving scum who have now desecrated their legacy.

Once caught, I would like them staked to the ground so that I, and others who so feel the urge, can piss on them.

They should have their citizenship revoked, be put on a raft and sent off.

Can those of us whose back teeth are floating, please piss on them first?

    Sounding fishier by the minute.
Stolen to order but didn't take two others with Ozzie connections?

With all of the dodgy dealings that go on in that museum, why am I not surprised.

I am genuinely upset about this...(aplolgies Hitcher, I have discovered you are right, the dots replace words!)

There is no legitimate (sp) market for these medals, pox on the person that ordered them into their collection. I hope that the people responsible for stealing them, will hold back delivery and the insurance companies can match the reward so these iconic gems can be restored to the families that loaned them to us!

I would like to see the thieving low life scumbags try to get past the rightful medal owners in order to steal them........

I have a photo of my pop and 4 of his peers at Guadal Canal - all about 21 years old and looking invincible in their army uniforms. It certainly shed a different light on the 'pop' that I knew as a kid.

The crazy thing is - the medals are really just lumps of metal - it is the history, the honour and the pride with which they were earned that gives them their true value.
