Remember how difficult it was for Rossi to pick up rally driving.

Actually, that's not true.
Rossi actually put in some credible performances in both rally cars and F1. I'd imagine it's harder to go from front of the field in cars to near the front in bikes, than vice-versa.

I feel sorry for the lads who try their guts out year after year looking for this sort of opportunity... along comes joni cum fuckwit and he gets to guest ride in three GPs. Not on at all.

Couldn't agree more but it seems to be the way of the world. I photographed the WRC rally NZ when Rossi had a drive. He did get to grips with it as the rally went on. The thing that bemused me was that we had
these rally greats here to do battle and the mainstream media gave Rossi all the coverage. Same deal there are some great drivers out there trying their heart out to get a drive.
