Wellington - Porirua - Trash Palace - Trailer

Dropped off some recycling at Porirua and called into Trash Palace.

They have a trailer in there that, with a little TLC, could be turned into a nice bike trailer. Don't know how much they want for it but just thought I would mention it in case someone may be interested.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

trash palace are reeeeal cheap. I bought some bits and pieces there and the woman behind the counter was real shy about asking $7. I said call it $10 - the money goes to a good cause.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Yep that place is great, a good cause, and lots of good stuff.

I went there last year and loaded my bike with all my purchases.
The women at the counter came outside and laughed their heads off, the bike was so overloaded! A brewing barrel either side, one strapped to the back of the pack rack overhanging the rear wheel, and a giant framed picture on the front of the rack.

It was all legal though, I often carry waaay to much stuff on my bike so I looked it up so I can tell the cops who stop me that you are allowed an overhang of such-ands-such here, and only 50cm there, etc.

Not any more they don't. I've just got back, and it was gone before I got there. Bummer.

    Thanks for the heads-up, though.

So is the dump? I remember when you could scavenge stuff from the dump for free. Pack and scab we used to call it, collect stuff and shoot rats, bonding with Granddad.

i love trash palace... also happy valley. makes me wish i lived in welly at times, just so i could go scavenge. ill never forget the time i found a teddy bear all pulled to bits... found all the arms and legs, but never found his head. and the material was stuff that you wouldnt able to find to make a new head.
also once found a bear made for the snuggle clothing detergent that is almost impossible to find and goes for big bucks in the states.
