I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, it IS something i do, thank you very much .. LOL..

and a thought occurred to me, Kiwi Biker, like it or not, is more than just a forum, it's a club (of sorts), we have rides and piss ups and all the same things motorcycle clubs have.

The only major differences that i can see, is that we have a metric ass load of newbies and these newbies go out on rides that the more experienced riders of the site set up and crash.

It may be because they over estimate their own skills (and who doesn't) we have all overcooked a corner at some point in time... but i digress.. my point is.

Have any of the senior members ever considered actually forming a KB motorcycle club?, Not just for the whole being a club thing, but so we, as a community can put processes in place to stop the number of members crashing.

Things like more newbie nights or properly supervised newbie rides with more experienced riders, maybe give the mentor program a massive kick in the bum, (I'll be putting my name up for this by the way).

Add to that the added benefit of National Rally's ... ha ha

I mean shit, we're already a club, half of us have kb patches on our jackets, why hasn't it been formalised???

    Thoughts, comments ????

In my humble view, we have plenty of formal motorbike clubs around. KB allows us a forum to interact with other bikers outside of this formal framework. I dont believe that forming a formal club and recording minutes etc is going to reduce crashes. We take great care with any rides we organize or partake in to ensure the newbies are catered for, and well looked after. We give them our time, tolerance, patience and guidance as it now stands, and let them know if we think they should do a ride safe course or the like.
KB is great as it stands in my opinion, which I guess is what you are seeking, peoples viewpoints.

Perfection is not something you should ever attain, but something to always strive for. For if we actually achieve our idea of perfection, is it then any longer perfect?

it has been talked about... i believe the response from the higher beings was something lik
KB never has been, and never will be a motorcycle club

It's a forum for people to meet, talk about, and ride bikes, if you wish to show your affiliation then that is up to you.

Its an online forum for bikers to meet and break the ice, then if wanted to go form ya own rides etc..I wouldnt join if it was an actual club..Minutes etc are BOORING!!! There are biker clubs already established outside KB.

I've started the monday night learning nights out east, and we go on rides etc its great...newbies meeting newbies..and us experienced riders help along the way. There are no mentors..just riders helping riders. Why should an experienced rider see him or herself better than the rest?

People have to crash at some stage, drop their bikes and be reminded of their own personal limits and bike limits. EVERYONE does it weather it be off or on road. Dropping a bike reminds the rider, bikes can fall down.

Flying over handlebars, landing in swamp and spending the rest of the avo digging out a bike reminds me bikes cant swim in swamp
My bass is such a slapper.......I cant stop fingering those strings

If individual KB members want to join "clubs" (and many do) then that is a matter of personal choice. However the site is not a "club", indeed it's not an anything other than a forum for bikers to hang out and interact. Long may that continue!

i wouldnt join if kb was a proper club. as said, minutes and politics are boring and pointless.

the local triumph club has been nagging me to join for several years. when it comes to rallies they hold, i do things in the same line as a full member, cept i dont pay dues to do so.
when they had the nationals here, i rode back into town to dump my tent, and then went back and spent the day sorting the trash and helping clean up.

i can go on rides with them, support their charity rides and spend time with members without getting involved in the picky catfights and being forced to take on admin roles that i cant handle. much better.
