The Boeing eventually reached a take-off of just under 270km p/h, with Reid's Black Beauty reaching nearly 300km p/h, racing past the Boeing just as it left the tarmac and took to the sky.

I actually expected the GP car to be quicker, not faster!

Lame video on Harold site, hope TV1/3 coverage better.

'Intense experience'? Surely an A1GP race is a bit more intense.

If an L200 and a Pajero can keep up, they can't have been going that fast.

It's irritating in a car or on a bike, so in a stiffly-sprung car with what? 2cm of suspension travel? it must've been really crap. For the few seconds the journey would've tooked.
Interesting to notice the other day, that the bridge now wears lots more concrete median barriers on the approach and exit to the metalwork in the middle. All this weight has been placed on the join between the main structure and the clippons...

Guess we will be needing a new bridge sooner rather than later.

no, these aren't permanent, they were just put there for the work that was going on over the past few weeks, they'll be gone soon

on a side note, bout the 'hollows' on the clip-ons, I think the slabs were made flat, then put on the bridge, on an arc. Since they were flat, not slightly arced themselves, this makes that annoying bouncing thing goin on

Apart from that, yeah, they rock.

    For cars.

no, what would they do that for?

it'll only work if you do it properly at the right time.

as imdying said it gives the race more strategy.

    tv3 have a clip.

    http://www.tv3.co.nz/Video/A1GPReida...ult.aspx#video

The cage gave the plane a 12 sec head start in the first race and was about even. In the second it was hard to tell cos of the angle but the A1 ate it with about a 5 sec head start.

My money is on the plane in the next race. Apparently next race is Auckland to Hong Kong.

Look, I can't be the only one who watched that bollocks and thought "A 2008 Hayubusa or ZZR1400 would have both of them!"

Look at the handicap applied. The A1 car could have won both heats easily, but was held back to try and make it look like a contest.
    Time to ride
