We will have been married three years on March 5 and together for just over eight years. Our fourth engagement anniversary will be celebrated for the first time this year - confused? We got engaged on February 29 2004 - yes, I did propose! It was either that or be 60 and wrinkled in our wedding photos (instead of 43 and wrinkled...!) waiting for him to get around to it!

He's my best friend and the one person I'd hate to be without.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Congratulations to you both I hope it continues forever.

On Christmas eve our twelve year old granddaughter detected an air of excitement in my demeanor and asked me why!

I told her that at precisely 7pm it would be 47 years since the moment her grandma and I met each other on a blind date.

She said gosh, I didn't know that!

Well, I said if that moment didn't happen you would not be here either, so that makes it even more exciting doesn't it.

Consequently, we all had a little moment of celebration as 7pm Christmas eve rolled on by yet again.

It's been a fantastic 47 years and it gets better every time! Cheers John.

    EEEEEUUWWWWW!!!!
I don't care what you do in the privacy of your bedroom/kitchen/laundry or what superhero suit you wear whilst you are doing it...........but "marriage" itself? Now that's disgusting.............

Being an accountant, we don't have a budget! (It's the "mechanic's car syndrome" y'know...)
I realised after I posted my usual drivel, that my generous buying of blingz last year must've had some effect. There was nary a raising of an eyebrow at the purchase of a new bike jacket for Christmas/my birthday, and the only comment about my Shoei helmet purchase was that it was prettier than her plain black one! Mind you, the blingz amounted to about five or six times as much.

Shit you just reminded me, 20th anniversary 18 jan. guess i better get something nice, thats right just bought her new Dririder pants to go with the jacket she got for Christmas.

Marriage is like riding the twisties, heaps of fun with a few scary moments thrown in for good measure.

Congrats to you both, hope you keep it strong.

Congratulations to you both on your special day and all the others that keep it going.

Me, I lasted 22 years relationship and 18 years marriage in my first. Two wonderful children gained though. Girl (28) and boy (23).

Now in my second (and hopefully last) long term relationship of 6 years and married 4 years.

Happiness can come second time around. Stalked mercilessely by a kiwi girl and then thrown gagged and bound on a NZ beach from her waka just over a year ago. She tells me I am the 'english take away' and the spoils of her 14year OE.

My more cynical friend has decribed it as "A triumph of hope over experience!"

Congratulations, it seem like there are a lot of wedding anniversaries on at this time of year.

E.g. My parentals' 37th wedding anniversary is on jan 16th; easy to remember as I was their 10th anniversary present

    Aaaawwww...how awesome!

Not sure little 00s are to be running around just yet. If they were though, good golly! I don't think the biking world is quite ready for that yet

I first met my good lady at Otago University in 1995... where is my calculator?

She is without a doubt my best friend.

Excellent attitude. Takes lots of commitment, hard work and selflessness.

    Absolutely!!!!

And it also takes a man who can cope with coming second...or maybe third....Oh okay, who am I kiddin? Fourth it is!

Seriously though...I often think in wonder as to all the elements that made me meet 007XY and think "what were the odds of us ever meeting and being so darn perfect for each other", when you count being born in different countries, speaking a different language and all the other little details of our individual lives.

Folks, truly cherish who you have. Love is a blessing!

To those still looking, don't despair and look with your heart, not with society's pseudo perfectness criterias.
