    HELP-Wanting to emmigrate-Psychologist/Corrections work wanted

I am looking to emmigrate to NZ November 08. I would really like to work for the Corrections Service but would also be very happy working as a Psychologist in any profession.

I currently hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology (have a 2:1) and am studying for an MSc in Applied Forensic Psychology. I am focusing my attention on stalking and hope to be Both of my qualifications, when I have the MSc will be accredited by the British Pscyhological Society.

undertaking my research for my thesis at Holloway Young Women's Prison. I intended to investaigate the COPES inventory (some of which I will reword to make it more approapriate for the intended target group who have varying levels of literacy) whilst factoring attachment style and looking at whether coping acts as a mediator.

If anyone can advise me or provide any assistance with searching for a psychologist position that would help me to gain entry and assistance towards gaining PR I would be extremely grateful. I can provide academic transcripts ot give an outline of what has been studied at undergraduate level.

Phone The Ministry of Corrections (or Justice) here in NZ and see what Qualifications they need you to have in the area you are looking at working in and go from there. My suggestion is to take a look at the Treaty of Waitangi papers offered at some of the Universities in NZ also, as I'm pretty sure any job relating to NZ people will need you to have some knowledge and/or paper in it (prepare yourself for some really boring and tedious crap there!) Good luck.

There are a few agencies that provide specialist services in your area of work.

What region will you be living in? There are advantages when immigrating to looking outside the Auckland region.

There is currently a skill shortage for people with in "medical" fields. Pop me a pm if you need help... and I can do some quick refresh research to help if it’s needed.
