So if I have had enuf of Telecom and Xtra, where do I go?

Telecom has really started to piss me off. That bubble in the sky, the filters, the costs and the support (or lack of). Today I had to try and tell some dorky automated girl (who wanted to keep on repeating that she understood me but every time I said something she would say: I have problems understanding) that I wanted to talk to someone re my account.

When I at the end got a real human (???) and she had transferred me 3 times I get this arrogant one (more arrogant then me!!!) telling me that "it is the way it is and I need to keep them informed, that is the contract I have signed" I snapped.

So now I will take my private accounts to someone else. BUT also as a result of this my business accounts. Adds to about $50K/year. Fuck em.

    So where do I go?

    Here what I need:

    Private: 1 broadband 30 G/month, 1 phone line.

    Business: 2 broadband 15 G ea/month, 1 phone line with 10 extensions, 10 other phone lines.
    Mobiles: 20

May the bridges I burn light the way.

The problem in Hawkes bay (and everywhere except the major CBD's is that you don't have choice (correct me if I'm wrong).

You can get any number of people wanting to resell you Telecom shite, but at the end of the day it's still Telecom shite.

Ring aroung the local providers and ask them whether they resell Telecom.

If you can get a supplier to provide you services over their own infrastructure then you might be ok, but it would depend on where your business is located.

TelstraClear may be able to help, the services they provide are better, but the helpdesk probably is not. But if you don't have fibre going past your door then I doubt they can business case it for your level of business.

I am with Islug - ok if you like your "broadband" at dial up speed. I am sticking with them as I am on an old plan with a good big data cap. The new ones are nowhere near as good, adn offer nothing to make anyone join up with them.
Orcon might be ok, but they are all crippled by Telecom's infrastructure.

www.orcon.net.nz have some good deals for residential broadband. If you can keep it around 20GB most months their zeroshock is a really good deal otherwise they have an option for 30GB plan as well. Also you have the option to select full download as well as full UPLOAD speed which is great as most other providers charge heaps more for full upload speed connections. If you have more than one computer on the internet at home or have p2p applications running uncapped upload speed is really really great...

Of course the fact that I'm starting job there next week might affect what I might say but even before I got a job there myself and all my family that I had any say over was already with Orcon.
I have deep pockets. It's just that it's a deep empty pocket...........

I second that. Some of the stories I've heard lately make Xtra/Telecom look freakin' awesome.

I second that. Orcon is really good when it hits the fan. For webhosting - http://www.kiwiwebhost.co.nz $1 /week for a website is pretty good, with a really good user control panel.
