    Nelson Port Races 2008

The buggers have closed off Rogers Street to foot traffic so you can't walk the whole track again

Walk around 3/4 and then walk all the way back...

All they need to do is open up the inside of Rogers St (like it used to be) and it'd be sweet.

    I'll be there

if they had any blooody clues they would change the f8#ken direction of the track back to WHAT IT USED TO BE so it was a slow speed corner onto teh start finish straight, and a higher speed corner at the end, also with run off instead `of the roundabout and shipping container greating you at the end of the straight with the current layout

it seems I am the only local who remembered the paso the picked up the shipping container and moved it two feet collecting a marshall on the way through several years ago when the track was run in the current direction

am considering racing there again on the 125, but bugger doin it on anything faster

they got really lucky last year in my opinion as there were very few braking duels at the end of the straight as the riders were quite spread out, and jarod love taking the majority of the glory

on the old layout, with closer racing, the run off provided frequent benifits

    now thats a rant!

risking a divorce as it is, hers indoors is very stressed about the notion of racing the r6, which Im not keen on due to the before mentioned reasons, but its fun to wind her up

and if I dent the 125, theres not long to get the old gurl going again for the nats, in which I have already invested a considerable sum

I'm racing, but you need not fear a whoppin from me. I'm doing F2, F3, BEARS and buckets. The Monster is too slow to be a threat to anyone in F2 or F3- might do OK in BEARS. Definitely looking for a top 5 in Buckets.... there's only 5 racing!

As for the track layout...yeah well I've always thought its a bit odd to have the fastest part of the track leadig to a corner that is the equivalent of turning up someones driveway. When that corner is the first corner after the start it makes even less sense.

the layout is all to do with noise control and complaints from the people up the hill about the noise... so they had to change it to this direction so the sound heads out to sea instead.

wont be there this time unfortunately... have fun guys!

And MNZ wouldn't sign off on the layout unless Rodgers Street was closed off

I've heard a few negative comments now about the nelson races. I was thinking of dropping in this year on my way south but I don't think I'll bother.
The organiser sounds like an alcoholic anyway.

Man thats stink...bout time they built a proper track in Nelson I reckon, summin' along the lines of Philip Isl. in the Moutere hills....its all gettin' a little anal I reckon, one of the best events in Nelson & ya cant walk around it ;& you get told off for sitting on block walls by some selfish prick of a factory owner.

Not me mate, and theres only 2 of the club members going.
You ask why, well look at the fucking disgraceful abortion of last year. As BMRC president I sent a letter to the nelson committee, but never heard back till I hauled Daren over at greymouth and had words. Now in his favour he did get on to it that week my email was finally answered... but reading through it there aint going to be any changes of benefit, and by that I mean safety.
    cheers DD
