Im about 6foot2 maybe even 6foot3 and around 90kgs. I'm looking to buy a 250c roadbike. Ive narrowed down my options to the hyo gt250(R) the GSX250 the Bandit250 the hornet250 ZXR250 and maybe the CBR250r.
I dont want a gutless bike and I dont want 2 look 2 big for the bike.
Can anyone offer any advice from past experience as I go looking? CHEERS

Im not as tall as you but heavier and thought I looked the part on a GT250R...but had more fun on a CBR2500RR...and felt more comfortable on the naked Bandit 250 and Hornet! (especially in the city)

The Hyo is a good bike and you'll look 'good' on it...
However you may also want to consider weighing up what you want to get out of the bike and how long you intend to or are fiscally able to keep the bike for etc...

Im basically the same size as you, probably taller, and i chose to go for a GSX250, no regrets here. Hyosung 250's are also a great bike for the taller people, as are Hornet 250's.

VTR's and Bandits are simply too cramped for leg room.

im 6 3 and 86kg i fit comfortably on my rg150 after around two hours my ass starts to go numb but by then it needs gas
anyhow you cant beat the two stroke smell

So what exactly is your question? are you wanting a new bike? if you are happy witht the RG then whats the problem... I start getting a numb but on the Firestorm after a couple of hours as well. (And just done the southern scenic route into milford (just on 600ks) and then back in two days) I had a numb butt

Sheep skin can go a long way for rider comfort and a thing layer of foam rubber as well. This will raise the seat height a little though but being 6 3 it won't make a difference for you though but it can change the riding position.

Anyway my thoughts are you should take regular rest periods when riding long distances anyway

Yea, i was leaning toward the gsx and the hornet actuly. I would like the hyo gt250r but im afraid if i scrape it itl be big bucks to repair, the naked versions alrite tho, just minus a few extras

I'm 6foot and i had a zxr 250 c it was fine 4me. With the 250's make sure you set up the suspension right. My zxr was set up 4 me (bout 75kg), when my bro got on it (95 kg) it looked like he was squashing it, but hes 6ft 4' and he fitted ok, just needed the suspension tweeking, which is reasonably easy on the zxr c model.

The zxr' s also have a hell of a lot more go than the hyo's, and handle much much better! In fact the zxr's are just better than the hyo's in all capacities aside from the digital speedo the hyo has.....n thats bout it.

I'm a tad over 6' 4" with riding boots on and just about 110k all geared up. The Hyo GT250 hauls me around no problem. If your a tall learner I recommend this bike. The Hornet, Bandit and GT250R are much nicer but this is more suited to a tall rider starting out. It is a very learner friendly bike, and a tall guy doesn't look silly on it. Many may disagree with me on the next point but if you've got no riding experience I would run with the GT250 before I hopped on the GT250R. The GT250 is much more practical to learn on, with it's upright seating position. Get a second hand one and trade up to a GT250R in a couple of months once your road sense has been sorted. There are other threads about this also. Best of luck.

If your just starting out on a bike it's a totally different experience than in a cage. You have to master the handling of the bike while at the same time be much more vigilant than a cager for hazards. On a GT250R your leaning a lot further forward than the GT250. The riding position is sportier and does not lend itself anywhere as well to the upright GT250 position for being more aware of what's around you. In the first few months of riding on the road this can be critical in my opinion. I recall a Road Test of the GT250R in Kiwi Rider magazine last year, and if I remember correctly the reviewer made comments about the GT250R not being the ideal learner bike. I think it is a great bike for the price, for the looks and for a 250 but I would get my basic skills up and running on a bike offering a more upright seating position first.

Ok haha thats quite a good point, and im a bit reluctant to get a bike with fairings still cos of the issue of dropping it, my pockets aint that deep!!!!
