I'm not sure thats an A100 bottom end, at least it's nothing like ours - no carb on the r/h side

Thats an AX100 (reed valve engine) by the look of it.

EDIT: If you look close at the pic you can see AX100 scratched on it. Seller must be blind.

Oh your right my bad i didn't even check it out and it just looked like a basic little suzuki bottom end! Heck if it was cheaper i would get it as a spare so i could thrash my current one to inches of its life.

Oh wait thats the plan already!

Why not just give it a quick birthday ? Pull the pipe off and decoke it using caustic soda (evil stuff but effective) or the tried and true blowtorch method.
Pull the head and barrel off.Thats just 4 X 12mm nuts to undo.
Clean up carbon build up on the piston crown and the exhaust port. Put a new set of rings in and a new head/base gasket.Put a new plug in it.
Before you go to all that effort you might want to pull the baffle out of the exhaust and clean it.

Cheers Doogle.... It has had a new spark plug, had the exhaust of it and believe me there was nothing worth even thinking about decoking it.... It has no bafffles to speak of but a home made jobby involving a washer and a pretty weld. It has compression and the carb and air filter are fine, though I am considering a leak down test, should I be able to find the gear. We fiddled round with the timing to no avail. I am thinking about replacing the points etc anyway though. I am definately considering new rings. I am gonna chech out the battery and all leads. I actually have a suspicion that its electrical.... The bike goes pretty much OKish it just doesnt go over 60 kph... It kicks over sweet the spark plug looks fine so its running OK.... Im hoping to check out the battery tonight. A mate has an A that's running pretty sweet so I may even swap over the batteries and see if that does it.... May even take a multi meter to it. I dont believe its ready to die yet but I want its top speed back. Especially since its intended for Bucket racing!

Did you look into the exhaust port and see if there was a thick black build up?

I did, although I have no real 2 stroke experiance it seemed negligable.
Just your typical exhaust port buildup kind stuff.

Will revisit that if other stuff doesn't work.

Points gap yes, Timing not yet.
Need to make or obtain a tool to remove the magneto bit.
Not sure of how the timing should be set either, I see one line that it may be and can see the slotted holes that I guess are to set it. More investigation required...

    I noticed something strange.

I could use a couple fingers on the fly wheel whilst it was in netural and could turn the bike all the way over.
I wouldn't be surpised if its compression. Dad's going to buy a compression tester when i remind him so ill let u lend it .

    My AX100 is running a B8ES i guess u head isn't quite the same.

So you whipped the head of yet? If you want you can come over and use my tools (limited) instead of going to upper hutt.

Cheers Kyle.... Congrats on becoming single again, btw!

Anyway, i'll definately take you up on the offer when you have it, re compression test. At the moment we are gonna focus on the more "simple" things, such as checking out the battery and leads etc. I know that I am prob clutching at straws, however ya never know. Fingers crossed!!
