    Yes, excessive dynamic compression is a horrible thing. Thankfully it hasn't spread to classical and jazz music, which is the sort of stuff I buy. Would really kill that music, as it depends so much on dynamic contrast; however it's not played on radios and not considered particularly `commercial' music so the producers don't mangle it like that.

    A bit of an experiment a few years ago, I went around to a buddy's house with Blondies Plastic Letters on vinyl, he had the cd version.
    Playing the cd (on an expensive 2 box high-end Micromega) and comparing it to the vinyl (played on an expensive Roksan turntable) was a real eye opener - the vinyl simply obliterated the cd for dynamics and overall sound quality.
    I'm glad I kept my records!

    Do you love me by the Contours sounds way better on vinyl then on CD or MP3

    well duh... most songs sound better on vinyl dear

    too bad I own nothing good.. the only vinyl in my house is crappyness that my dad used to listen to in his teens and what not... (don't get me wrong, i like some of the stuff he listens to.. just not what he's got on vinyl)
