New Drowning Pool album out soon

Got into this band pretty quick way back before their first album was released. Saw them at a Dallas metal club called Trees (Damn I miss that place) when they were just a local band. Fucking awesome show with stage divers and all sorts.

Sucked when Dave Williams died, I went to his funeral in Plano and saw heaps of big bands (Pantera, Union Underground...) there all paying there respects to a great singer.

When they replaced him with Jason Jones I didn't like them as much, his voice didn't really seem to fit the music too well other than the song Step up.

Lost track of them after that till just recently I found a random vid on youtube with them and their new singer Ryan McCombs.

Now that is more like it!! Still doesn't replace Williams, Tear Away is still their best song in my opinion, but damn it's bloody close!

their website as a few more songs from the album on it.

To me Drowning Pool should have stopped when Dave died. They never had a chance of bettering 'Sinner'.

That and nu-metal is dead and buried now.

Mudvayne's latest album was pretty rubbish, all B-sides, in saying that, they lost a lot of the x factor that made them original by the time 'Lost and Found' rolled around. LD50 and TEOATTC were far superior albums. Hopefully they bounce back and bring back some of the insane timing that made them so good to start with. The 'Hellyeah' side project that Chad and Greg launched was abysmal too.

    I beg to differ.

    I beg to differ.
What are you talking about? Lost and Found is their latest album.

    They made a demo album
    then LD50
then re-released the demo album as Beginning Of All Things To End
then had End Of All Things To Come
    then Lost and Found

All albums are of the same song quality, the only differences between the albums is the production team. Watch them perform stuff from LD50 and all the other albums and there is nothing lacking. The intricacies are all there for all to see, its just the different approaches to the albums that make them sound so different.

Other then that the only change is that they stopped doing the sensationalism with dressing up and make up and have focused more on the music and performance.

And lastly, I for one appreciate a band that evolves. I am rather sick of bands that sound the same in every album (*cough* Hatebreed *cough*). Metallica's St. Anger was refreshing as it was different. IF you want to hear songs from a band that all sound the same, hit the disk repeat button on your player and listen to the same CD over and over.

Where have the bizarre time signatures gone? Compared to LD50, Lost and Found is inherently commercial. Not saying they sold out, but 'Happy?' isn't far from it. I found the majority of songs on Lost and Found to be boring, with the exception of 'Imn'. I think that having one of the greatest bass players on the planet, and not utilising his potential is almost criminal.

That said, everyone has an opinion, and i'm certainly not trying to insult yours. Just found that Lost and Found was a bomb for me, in the same way that Saint Anger was.

I don't want the same album over and over again, but I want to feel that it's in at least the same ballpark.

LD50 has no bizarre time signatures. A few bits where they change time signature and bpm but thats it. Watch them live, it's an eye opener.

It's mostly a B-Sides album, a lot of the live tracks on there were already released on their 'Official Live bootleg'. Couple of average new tracks.

Seen 'em 4 times now, so cheers. 3 times here, and once in San Fran. And your right, it was TEOATTC I was thinking about with the time signatures, particularly 'Trapped In The Wake of A Dream'.

If your into your 'Vayne, have to tried 'American Head Charge'? 'The War Of Art' is an amazing album.

Thought you might like something in the same (no pun intended) vein.

I'm always open to new bands, but the list of people that can find beauty in Napalm Death and Dillinger Escape Plan are fairly limited.
