    I'm gutted. Yeah right...

I see that the little prick who killed a 13 year old while riding a bike on the beach at night with no lights http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/...ectid=10486539 is now feeling "gutted." I would put money on the fact that his lawyers put out this statement, to try and gain sympathy and reduce the sentence he will get.

This a**hole killed my wifes second cousin.

Thanks to the Herald for providing his name.

"We have found out that they are really nice people. I was just trying to put across that there could be a whole lot of dislike and they are more than welcome to feel that for the rest of their lives,"

Well, I'm sure the other family will be ecstatic to learn that they have permission to hate them.

    What the fuck?

Seriously, I may be reading this from the wrong perspective but does the language used by the killer's family suggest to anyone else that they don't really give a shit? Either that or the Herald is at it again with its bullshit.

    This too:

"The first three days were really hard to even put your head around it, but you know you have to put your head up. We can't do anything about it... you just can't put life on hold. We have a farm to run, we have a family to look after so we can't just stop it."

Evidently you can, you just need an unsupervised kid on a dirt bike.

    Disgusting.

A normal kid, stays at home or goes out with his mates. How does that come accross to you,to me he is a spoilt little ass, especially after mum growled at him.Sometimes when parents say don't ride it or use it,it is for a reason, sometimes the reason is a simple thing,i.e you might break it because of a fault, this one is worse he killed her, seems the parents may have thought the boy would do exactly as he did, only they never in their wildest dreams thought he would kill and injure anyone, just they knew he would hoon around unsupervised.Sorry is all they can say,but do they/he mean it.

Gutting for the families (victims)concerned,my sympathies to you people,I can not imagine their anguish and loss.

I am sure that there are plenty of people out there who like to make his feelings come true....

Oh yes - a cynical play for the sympathy vote. The arrogance inherent in the parent's statement says a mouthful as to the nature of the kid too.
I have to say that no doubt the kid had no intention to hurt or kill anyone, but rather he would do whatever he wanted (upbringing? youth?) and tough on anyone in his way. What's the bet that once it reaches court, there will be a lawyer claiming the girls were at fault because they were supposed to be somewhere else?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

My favorite part is where he "[is] too scared to have fun."
The fucker is not supposed to have fun. Not for a long time.
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
