What is going on here?! I have elderly parents who live on the North Shore, plus sister and brother and their families. Are there more people like this lot who are targetting the defenceless? The end of the article says a few people have been detained, names suppressed (wtf is with that too?!) but it isn't obvious whether the two issues are connected.

I must say I'm a bit concerned. The last best place is slowly being dragged down by lowlife scum taking advantage of a marvellous way of life that is NZ. As ever, it's a very small minority, I'm sure, but wanton crime is bound to be encouraged to some extent, in that if they do get caught, the State appears to be pretty bloody soft on them.

Should I be worried for my family and friends safety? I'm not paranoid, normally, but this sort of thing does worry me.

Have to agree about the firing squad. It would never happen but I wish the government and society would take a harder line of shit like this. Fingers crossed the victims make a quick recovery but I doubt mentally they would ever be the same.

All this shit stems from this stupid fuckin over pc world we live in. No discipline at home, school or anywhere bloody else. No respect for anyone or anything. Kids need to be taught, and that includes these things. Start from the bottom, don't try to fix it with the firing squad at the top.

Where's that? I've lived in Park, Archers, Manuka rd, James St, Valley View and Chivalry. I'm in Northcote central atm, not far from the state houses, but I walk around here at night frequently without worry. _b

I am pissed off that they have name supression. They are callous and have no compassion or feeling towards other people to "be just going around bashing people". Someone needs to find out who they are and shoot them in the kneecaps...or head...but then that is just going to form another sort of gang culture. I hope the cops roughed them up a bit when they picked them up.
