I am playing in the band at the finish and so have been in contact with Richard (the organiser) extensively.
It is on the Sunday (same as last year).
It is on Sunday 24th February.
The departure time is 9.00am. You can get there any time you like but the ride will leave at 9:00 am on Sunday February 24th.

I know this because we have to be set up and ready to play by 9:45 a.m. on Sunday February 24th.

This means that I have to be over at the finish by about 8:30 am on Sunday February 24th to get set up.

This in turn means that I need to leave home with about half a tonne of gear in the cage by about 7:50 am on Sunday 24th February.

This in turn means that I have to get up by about 6:45 am on Sunday February 24th.

Rest assured, that I am not gonna pass up my regular dawn breaker and get out of bed at that time on a Sunday without a bloody good reason.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

If you want a serious answer, I expect the ride to start arriving at the finish venue about 9:45. Consequently everyone will be there by around 10:45.
Given past performance, I believe that the formalities will all be over by about Midday.

    This remark puzzles me.
I have participated (in some way or other) with several of these runs now and I have yet to see or hear of any aggro whatsoever.
Given the purpose, long may that continue.

agreed there... i pillioned last year, and about the most crazy thing i saw was two guys wearing mohawks on their helmets. the lunatic behaviour seemed to be kept for after the ride, not during.

There is a huge BP, a Maccas, an Autobahn cafe etc.
Unfortunately there is also a "BP, Maccas & Autobahn" on the left as you come over the top of the Bombays as you head North...

Very true, but as that can be accessed from the Southbound lanes, it's not the one eh. I wish it was still a Georgie Pie.

Just remember YOU are on show!!!!! I will discuss ride etiquette with the scooters and learners. I didn't think that I had to explain to adult riders that screwing up a charity ride is not on!!!!There is not enough room for smart asses with 1500 bikes on the ride. I hope this sets your mind straight!! regards Richard

Just like when a young child asks his/her parents about jumping in puddles... you know he/she will do it anyway, regardless of what you say.

As long as the 'dropkick brigade' are far away from me and anyone that I know.

I remember on one charity ride, that there was a fella on a bike doing wheelies, what he didn't realise at the time was that nice car that was amongst it all was a cop... at the end of the ride when everyone pulled up near AMPs...... the copper stopped right beside the rider and his bike...... and was issued one hell of a ticket. The cop kept that bike in sight the whole way, plus he had the rego number.

There was a huge debate at the time as to whether or not he deserved that ticket... He was right in the middle of the pack.......

So just be aware that there are cops on these rides.
