my maltese poodle Cheeky used to eat brown beetles.. (in south africa) called Christmas beetles colloquially... they soon earned the name "cheeky peanuts" in our family... and have been called that ever since

sadly cheeky passed away when i was 8. RIP old boy.

eww eww, that just reminded me... my mum's dog used to like to sit for hours licking my nanna's legs, she had these skin cancer things on them and they used to get a bit 'weepy', and the dog would lick them. Funnily enough, it actually used to clear them up.

It has a healing agent in it.... the fact that he licked your Nanna's legs was a sign of devotion, and that he was taking care of her... he would know the smell of "infection" and he only knows one way to fix it and thats lick.

    Bless his heart!

My old girl Dyna LOVES fruit and it is a race between her and me to get it off the fruit trees in my garden. She will easily get all the lower ones and when they are all gone she stands on her hind legs and, using one leg and paw, will pull branches down to her to get the higher fruit.

    Smart eh?

But she doesn't wolf the fruit down. She lies down and holds it between her front paws taking delicate wee bites , chewing and swallowing then turns it and bites again just like a person. If she encounters a bad bit she will spit it out! And she won't eat apple cores! No worries cos my other dog comes along and hoovers the leftovers up!

I know, lovely little walking slipper it was, but how the hell nan could handle her licking her legs I don't know! She tried to lick a cut on my leg once and I couldn't bare the feeling *shivers*. Bless her heart is right, RIP Puddles.

Oh yeah that reminds me...another dog I used to co-own was a pot-head. Wouldn't touch cabbage tho, only interested in the good shit.
Quite frankly she needed to mellow out a bit, she was a stressed out bitch, the dak didn't seem to do her any harm.
And BTW we never fed it to her, she just had an uncanny knack of sniffing out stashes LOL!

I just remembered...I had an albino pet rabbit who used to chew on everything from electrical wiring to phone books, anytime he was released in the house.

We eventually had to give him away to a lady with a bigger garden, hoping it would resolve the problem. But it didn't...

We had loads of horses over the years and the two that stand out are the one that ate Pebbles (the choc-coated ones, not the rocks) and the mare that drank Coke straight from the bottle. She used to grab it between her teeth, throw her head back and take a swig! Odd... Now I understand why she was such a good jumper
